Post by 77ElClassic on Wed Sep 07, 2016 11:21 pm

They're trying to help raise the value of our cars.

I bought a '77 El Camino Classic new, in 1977, and it was a bit over $4900 bucks !! It had a 305 in it, you know, step on the gas, light up a Camel, and wait for something to happen.... Very Happy

Those places have a exorbitantly high prices on their cars. I was told because the export on American classics are good they jack the prices up.

For that price I think the engine compartment could have looked a lot better.

You guys are too negitive about the price. Just the wheels and tires are close to $2,000 and the paint job was from $6,000 to $10,000 depending on where obtained. I think it is well worth the price. You get what you pay for. JB

It's probably worth close to their asking price, but as some one that has body work and paint on some high end restorations over the years, did you notice the alignment on the doors? As easy fix though. It does help those of us that don't have high end cars for now keep the value of our cars up. Very Happy

You do have a point, especially if it does in fact have a crate 454 which I would assume is fairly new. I just dropped a bunch for some paint work on my car, It sure ain't cheap anymore. However, compared to the SS tribute car listed on here the SS looks like it has alot better fit & finish, at least from what the pics are showing, No interior shots. And for $5500 less. The seller of the Elco could at least have taken a scotch brite pad and knocked the rust off of the gear shift handle.

Gateway has a showroom about 30 miles from me. Most of their cars are consignment cars and some of the people selling them are car flippers. You can look at a car and tell who they are. By the way, consignment is just under $200 for 3 months. If it does not sell, you are out $200. JB

If restoring a car or El Camino of the G3s, it's really easy to blow past 15 K doing a resto.  Don't ask how I know this !!!! Rolling Eyes

And that doesn't include your free labor !

Thanks buddy. I'll take that as a compliment on my car. Very Happy
