Some more work.  To put the correct wattage speakers to match the amp I was going to try and fit some 6x9 speakers in the lower doors.  To do this I needed to get rid of the crank windows.  So, I went to "Old Fateful" g3chevy and picked up some power window regulators.  After looking at the mounting depth and real estate needed for the large 6x9 speakers I decided to make a much thinner set up using 2 6.5 speakers.  The mounting depth is much thinner as they use 1 piece of 3/4 MDF, not two.  Here are a few pics.  As a note, when I worked in Detroit I found a junkyard that had a '75 Laguna and I got the inner door emblems.  I am going to use them for these speaker pods.  These pods will have rounded edges and black covering.  Where are you at picture - Page 6 Img_3714

Looks nice sir. I didn't want to cut up my door panels and no one makes kick panel speakers for our cars, so I watched loads of youtube videos and made my own.

That’s sweet. I like how clean that looks. I’m a big fan of YouTube. My entire interior has been redone in black vinyl so nothing is stock. It is just a blank canvas. I had it done that way so I could do what I want. Nothing needs to be cut from the steel part of the door, just the door cover piece. My amp for the interior speakers puts out 167 Watts RMS per channel on its birth certificate. I wanted to use as much of that as I could. It would blow 1 set of 6.5 speakers so I am going to use 2 per side. Should really belt out some old heavy metal.

Started on the rear bumper today.  I received my bad to the bone bumper brackets from tropdeprojet today and they are COOL...  Lots more work to come on this.  I am going to take the plasma cutter to it tomorrow and trim it as tight as I can get it.  Then, paint it black.

Been a little busy.  Got my spare frame walnut media blasted along with a rear end I got from g3chevy.  They are also in primer now.  Also, I finally sent my money in for my entire Global West suspension kit.  Tubular upper and lower control arms, springs, sway bars, rear upper and lower control arms, and frame braces.  Soon I will be at a read light with a tin cup begging for change...

tropdeproje does excellent work on those brackets. Mine were the prototype/first pair he made for the 74-77 cars. They work and make my car look sweet in my opinion. Very Happy

I was thinking of painting the panel around the tail lights on mine black just like that.  Mine has a huge crack on one side I need to fix, I assume fiberglass would work.   Mine is color matched to the rest of the car and it's too much of one color, I was thinking black would look better.  Thanks for posting the pic, I haven't seen anyone paint that section like that. Yours looks good!

Did you take the whole thing apart or just tape off the car and paint? I was looking at it the other day and it didn't look like too much work.  I just hate taking all that plastic stuff apart for fear of breaking something.

Mine was broken as well. I ended up reinforcing it with a piece of aluminum angle stock and stranded fiberglass filler. The repair was very strong and turned out looking fairly decent. Here are some pics for reference.

Yeah, I forgot to photoshop that out. Must have been my drunk neighbor holding that part while my drunk-A$$ took the picture. I don't really recall. I'm really hazy about that whole day lol.

Ok, drum roll please, I just got my shipping notification from Global West. Should have my suspension parts by Friday. g3chevy, you are invited down to help me open the boxes. I had just a little time to spend with the frame today. I finished making my bracing pieces this weekend and I primed them today. I also started painting the frame. I have to wait until the braces are welded in before I can finish that. I hope the welder can get it in and tacked up this week. I am waiting for my money from one of my auctions so I can order my axles, posi, gears, pinion yoke, and seals. When that stuff gets here I will assemble the rear end and install the Wilwood brake kit. Does anyone want to buy a 1970 Camaro project car? That would really help...

Christmas has come early at the Revin Kevin household! Would love to come down and go through all the goodies but I've committed to a swap meet this weekend in Conroe at least for Friday and Saturday. I might be able to come over on Sunday if you're still playing out in the garage by then. Let me know!

Limey, it turned out to be a great swap meet but unfortunately the only g3 specific parts I found were these swivel bucket seats I ended up purchasing. I'll keep my eyes open for any sail panels at the junk yards and craigslist down here.

A little work.  Made my braces, some paint work, and cut trans tunnel for T56 upgrade.

That saw is truly bad. That hole looks so big. I watched all the videos that I could find. Everyone that cut the tunnel to fit the T56 had to cut more out when the put the trans in. That made them have a lot of extra material and open spaces to fill in. My cut makes a one piece repair panel out of my original metal. Much less work I hope. And yes, it does make it easier to get tools off the ground right now.

I hate when people back out on deals.  I have several people black listed right now.  This is what my 1970 Camaro looks like.  I have every piece to put it back together.  Mini tubs, 4 link, roll cage, all new metal, bla bla bla.  Well, except what I stole for the Laguna...
