Re: Where are you at picture
I love the mask for the shifter. I'm pretty sure I have those exact socks.

Re: Where are you at picture
That's funny. The other sock has become a grinding mitt. Here it is sans sock and with masking tape removed.
Here are a few pics of the brakes. I need to take another one of the master cylinder and proportioning valve set up.
It's funny that you have to cut off all of the stock brake mounting points from the spindle so you can put brakes on.

Re: Where are you at picture
I flipped the frame over, by myself, and started finishing the paint. All of my Global West suspension items are in now so tomorrow, because today is my daughter's 14 th birthday, I will install some pieces and get this thing complete. Hey Bill, I might name this frame after your old girlfriend. If you want you can come take a video for your youtube channel. All of my rear end stuff should be here next week.

Iguy wrote:I was thinking of painting the panel around the tail lights on mine black just like that. Mine has a huge crack on one side I need to fix, I assume fiberglass would work. Mine is color matched to the rest of the car and it's too much of one color, I was thinking black would look better. Thanks for posting the pic, I haven't seen anyone paint that section like that. Yours looks good!fasrnur wrote:
tropdeproje does excellent work on those brackets. Mine were the prototype/first pair he made for the 74-77 cars. They work and make my car look sweet in my opinion.
Did you take the whole thing apart or just tape off the car and paint? I was looking at it the other day and it didn't look like too much work. I just hate taking all that plastic stuff apart for fear of breaking something.
Iguy I just taped it off and painted it. It wasn't hard at all. I like it a lot better than all yellow.

Re: Where are you at picture
I had some time this week to do some work. I got a lot of the suspension installed and the front brakes. I got all of my rear end stuff in and installed all the bearings but I got stopped by not having the tools or know how to set up the new ring and pinion and posi. If I could have gotten that done I would have come close to finishing the rear of my frame. Oh well, more to come... For some reason I can't post pics right now. I will try later.

Re: Where are you at picture
Thanks. I wish the pictures did it justice. All black in the shade is hard to see. I just went all in on some more tools. I just bought a dial indicator, magnetic base, and an inch pound torque wrench. I am going to set this rear end up myself. I might need a lifeline, or 3, but I can do it. “You can do it Water Boy”

Re: Where are you at picture
Does that a-arm brace go to the bushing side of the crossmember? I thought they go to where you see the nut in that pic. This project is looking good.

Re: Where are you at picture
Thanks big red. Are you talking about the rear brace from the lower control arm? The instructions for that said to bolt them to the lower control arm and raise it up and drill a 1/2 “ hole and mount it. That puts it under the upper control arm mount. Seems like the only place it will go.

Re: Where are you at picture
Here is the instructions. The ones they have for the 68-72 do go to the upper control arm bolt. These are different. They are 90 degrees on each end. These look like they are a little stouter because they bolt to the crossmember on one end. I think they should bolt to the crossmember on both ends but they don't. With the supports I added to the control arm mounts I think these will add a great deal of rigidity. Rigidity is a funny word.

Rigidity is definitely a funny word. Try saying it out loud after a few shots of whisky.

Re: Where are you at picture
A little more work. I was able to get the rear end set up with a guy today. I almost have it in the frame. Just one more control arm bolt to install. Kind of tuff fighting springs, control arms, jack stands, and a worn out jack on the back of a trailer in some 97 degree Texas heat by myself. I was bent up in every conceivable position and that last bolt would not go. More to come...

I prefer the word “ Arse”. I read that word in an old magizine that had a forum section with stories in it.

Re: Where are you at picture
Funny you should say that. I landed on my arse when I tripped over my air hose today working in the Camino. But at least I was in the shop with a fan blowing on me. I'm not a Chuck Norris like you working out in the sun all day when it's pushing 100 degrees. I guess you can do that since you're not old like me lol. Did you make your road trip already?

Re: Where are you at picture
You need to get those springs compressed somehow so the bolt lines up. Maybe get the local high school football team to stack their weights on the frame.
I would have more done on mine if it wasn't for in-laws going to the hospital and such, so I live vicariously through these updates.

Re: Where are you at picture
Vicariously is another funny word. The more I jack up the axle, the more the frame lifts. I have straps working on straps. I’ll get it this afternoon. As fas as that road trip, yes I did and it was a pure hell adventure. I don’t know if I’m ready to talk about that one yet. Got the deal done though.

Re: Where are you at picture
I'll let you recuperate before I get the hellish details of your road trip. As far as the control arm goes, try removing the coil and then hook up your control arm. If it's too tight to get the spring in afterwards then jack up the other end of the axle and it should fall right in.

Re: Where are you at picture
Hey BRL, I hope everyone is OK with your family. I had just a little time to work today. I missed the cool part we had today. Cloudy and sprinkling. It was actually 83 degrees. Then I show up and it goes back to sunny and 96. Stupid weather man had to remind me that the feels like temp was 101. Anyway, I was able to get all the bolts in the rear end and work on the brakes. And, drum roll please, I put the Moser stickers on the axles. It felt like I had accomplished something big. Hey Bill, I need you to come over and have a bolt torquing party. It will be fun.
