Suspension Kit  Empty Suspension Kit

During my infinite research for suspension kits, I came across this classic performance kit from summit. Has anyone purchased this yet? Looks solid and like a good starting point for later upgrades as fund become available. I would love to hear some pros and cons of going with this kit.

Looks like a nice kit but I think I'd track down the stuff on my own. Especially an 1 1/8" (Z28) or 1 1/4" (trans am) front sway bar. They're giving you a 1" and your stock one is 7/8", so not much improvement there. I dont see what size the rear bar is but you want to get the right one according to the front size. If you go too big or too small you will end up with oversteer or understeer. System has to work together.

Just my opinion.

That part number is actually for a Camaro kit..I noticed that Summit seems to do that for some odd reason..

So the front sway bar from a WS-6 Trans Am and a rear sway bar from a 94-96 Impala SS would be a good choice for the street Joe?

I would say so but I'd do some web searching about sway bar sizing. I don't give bars much thought since I'm not looking for handling. Years ago I removed my stock SS front bar and traced it with a standard Chevelle 7/8" bar and spaced it away from the frame about 3/4"-1" away from the frame. Just to allow some more weight transfer. Car handled like crap and leaned like crazy in a turn. But launched well. I have my original bars back in it now.

I was curious because those are the ones I have setting in my trunk waiting for spring to get here. Very Happy  Now I have to get myself that new steering box with quick steer. Napa has a rebuilt one with 2 3/4 turns lock to lock for $124 exchange.

Back in the 80s I used an 80s monte SS box. They're quick ratio. Only difference was the metric thread but they make a tiny adapter for that.

I have looked at both of those choices Joe and Limey. When you add things up for the adapter kits for the hoses, new rag joint and the cost of a used box, it  get's very close to the cost of a rebuilt one. It makes more since to me to buy a rebuilt one and just bolt it on using my rag joint and lines. That's just me though.

Now that I've kind of high jacked this thread, is anyone looking for a manual box for their car? I know where there is a used one for $75 plus the ride.

I got mine from a performance G body, so the 442, Hurst, T-type, GN, or Monte SS. Plugged right into the stock stuff if I remember right. The sway bar, the Parts Place, Inc, makes 1.25" sway bars for our cars at $89 plus shipping puts ya at about $125. I think you're better off saving $1500 and using Impala SS springs, polyurethane bushings, rear sway bar, and a 1.25" front sway bar.... I do have a set of rebuilt front control arms with polyurethane bushings if you wanna do it...ha
