Quarter window chrome
Does any one know why some 73s had quarter window chrome and some didn't? Scott

Re: Quarter window chrome
I believe they all did. Alot of the 73's (If not all?) Had plastic trim that would shrink over time, From being out in the sun, etc. It would fall out.
Later ones had stainless. Someone else on here probably is more knowledgeable on this.

They all had it, originally. '73's were the only year they used stainless. GM went to that cheap-A$$ chromed plastic in '74-'77.

Yup, that is correct. Thats why the stainless usually fetches a premium price.

Re: Quarter window chrome
Well... I guess my question is.....does anyone have any stainless quarter trim I can buy for a 73 SS.....and how does it attached?

Re: Quarter window chrome
Its 2 pieces and just snaps into place. The pieces are U shaped and fit over the body metal. The outward force of itself keeps it locked in.
I sold all my extra sets. Sorry

Re: Quarter window chrome
I believe I have one good side (think it's the passenger side)...but, other side has one piece where the end has been flattened a little. Don't know if it can be restored as I'm just not patient enough to work with straightening metal.
Chromed plastic repros are available thru The Parts Place. You'll need to buy original corner clips if you go that route. Believe I have a few of those around.

Re: Quarter window chrome
Scott- Good Easter Sunday morning to you- I know where you can get a full set of the 73 rear quarter window moldings. Send me a PM. Also GM made both in 1973. The early cars had the stainless and sometime in the early part of 1973, GM went to the plastic. I have had several cars that had both. rejoice in this day That Jesus Christ has risen, and we will too one day because He took our place on that cross. I am never ashamed of the Gospel Mitch
