73-77 Chevelle VIN & Body Tag codes

OK back to business.

It seems we have an issue with the 1977 VIN codes.

5th Symbol - engine

One source says this:
D=250-cid 110-hp inline six cylinder
Q=305-cid 145-hp V-8
V=350-cid 170-hp V-8

another says this:
D=250-cid 110-hp inline six cylinder
U=305-cid 145-hp V-8
L=350-cid 170-hp V-8

Looking for some 77 owners to chime in here. I know that the code U 305 is correct, how about verifying codes Q, L, & V?

Here's one for the '76 paint codes, 01, DuPont lists it as 'Special Order Blue' It's a sky blue/Powder blue. My '76 had that and I've only seen about 6 75-76 cars in 34 years that color. It had never been completely repainted, except after Mom got hit in it, that just damaged a headlight bucket and the passenger fender.

Mom and Dad were the only owners of it from 12 miles to 199,558 and 24 years, so I know it had never been in any other wrecks or any paint work.

It does not show up on any other documentation, but that was what was on my cowl tag, I still have it somewhere. Made for fun trying to find touch-up paint. Furd was too white and Chrysler was too blue.

Q is correct for '76 140hp/250tq 305. U is correct for '77 145hp/245tq 305.
