Re: Reputation system
Also to the right side of the screen, there is a +/- . This can be used to give or take away points towards that person.

Re: Reputation system
You know Limey..... if you would buy some of those parts I'm holding for you that you want so bad, my street cred might go up a point or two. With that said, I officially hold you responsible for my low numbers.

Re: Reputation system
Look directly to the right of my quote on your reply & it should be there. I don't know why, but it looks like you can only thank one person per thread & only on threads that you started.

Darn new fangled technology. I'd get pissed at it trying to use it and throw it out the window!

Re: Reputation system
Seriously though, what are you lost about? How to use the system or it's purpose?

Re: Reputation system
So who decides whether or not the negative stuff is fair or not, because it will happen sooner or later.
It's gonna be a guy's word against another guy's word unless you have proof.
You start getting into a rating system, and sooner or later somebody is going to have to regulate it.
Just sayin'.

Re: Reputation system
In an effort to encourage helpful and positive interaction between forum members, we've devised a plan to use an added feature to the forum called "Street Cred". Each forum member has this description and their total rep underneath their username. To the side of other people's posts, there are +/- buttons. Whenever a forum member give you some useful advise or they do some good deed that helps you out you can push + and the helpful person's "Street Cred" will go up by one point. The - button is supposed to be used merely if someone gives false information or a bad post (ex. - Telling someone to use gasket sealer on a carburetor). Merely disputing with someone or disagreeing on certain methods ARE NOT reasons to use this button. Everyone has their own opinion.
Not only is this a reward from you to them for helping out this number can serve as a guide to people as to how good a person's information is. Low numbers with a lot of post may mean the information is less valuable...... well.... maybe later on when we start getting street cred built up, lol.
Seriously, how many times have you went on a forum searching for answers to find two entirely different answers, but you don't know who has the right one? How much information have you "learned" from the net only to find out it doesn't work or isn't true? Me personally, I'm old school & learned from books, schooling, & personal experience. Anymore, newbies just want a quick correct answer without researching.... the slackers, lol. Maybe this can help them feel more comfortable.
