You can also make sure that your starter is properly grounded, and all of it's wires are connected well while you're at it.

try to get the name and/or number off the starter maybe you bought it from advanced auto parts or auto zone and it has a warranty.

thats how i got a brand new one in mine. but you can take the starter off and take it up to there and they will test it free.

maybe he can try to jump start it directly from the solenoid by crossing over the 2 wires.

its an original starter i got from the junkyard because my car kept burning starters from napa and autozone. it looked pretty worn out when i pulled it last night and someone had put a newer selonoid on it already all the wires are connected well it just doesnt want to turn

I know that man BUT straight from the company's web site

It fits small block Chevy 283, 302, 305, 307, 327, 350, 383, and 400 V8 engines and big block Chevy 366, 396, 402, 427, 454, and 502 V8 engines with the straight across starter bolt pattern. It has dual mounting bolt patterns to work with either the 153 tooth or 168 tooth flex plates. Weight is only 10 3/4 lbs..
