Limey...

Post by JB2wheeler on Sat Sep 25, 2010 11:41 am

...I saw an Oldsmobile website with pics of a car show on it. Every one of the cars, almost, had a fire extigwisher sitting by the driver's front wheel Why is that so? Do Oldsmobiles go so fast that they catch on fire easy? JB

I've never seen anything like that before, so my guess is that's a running joke in a car club. It gets pretty hot in this area but not hot enough to require fire extinguishers.?

from what I have gotten so far its a way that everyone gets a reward for coming to car show at this particular one for that way NO Oldsmobile is judged superior than the other one.

Ok cool, a fire extinguisher can come in more handy than a trophy anyways.

and cheaper for the car show also just think how different trophys they would have to make. I did a show up here where I live and they are about 7 bucks each and for 35 catergories you do the math .......... buy bulk ext way cheaper .................and could get a sponsor to donate them as well

OK JB FOUND OUT WHY..................... For that car show to be held on the property every onwer had to show they had a fire ext due to insurance thing,, but I like the trophy aspect of the story better

The very first time I drove my 74 afterr it was totally completed, We were going down Preston Highway during rush hour and a woman pulled up beside uis and calmly said "your car is on fire". I pulled into a business place and a salesman ran out with a fire extingwisher and put it out. What happened was the dust cover for the steering shaft was too close to the headers and caught on fire. My heart slowed down after about 5 minutes. I lost a good baseball cap because I was using it to beat on the steering shaft until the salesman got there. JB
