the Paddock etc

Post by pila on Sat Nov 06, 2010 4:38 pm

I saw on another forum a few weeks back, that the inventory of the Paddock was acquired by Classic Industries. I've used Classic only once, for a gas pedal spring, since their thing is like Camaros etc and not my type cars etc.
Maybe they will advertise the parts from the Paddock outfit, ?? I didn't pursue that..

And another thing I heard on the grapevine....Edelbrock is hurting somewhat with our sick economy, and has scaled back (off?) on Harley parts. They are taking in casting type jobs from other types of industries, to keep their casting place going it seems, which makes good sense, to keep their people working.

The market is somewhat flooded (Ebay etc) with the Edelbrock Performer carbs. Every one has those for sale it seems. I've never used one, but if it's as good as the Carters they copied , they should do the job. Too bad that they backed off of the Q-jets they were producing.

There were some models of those that were mentioned on another forum, regarding some aluminum flashing in the casting that made running problems, but was an easy fix when discovered. I don't use those carbs myself, and gave away all the old Carter AFBs I had, which were good carbs. I'm a Q-jet and Holley guy these days........and still have a Holley 3310 new in the box that I don't need Neutral

I have a friend with an Olds that sits all the time. The Edlebrock fires right up all the time and the car runs good. That carb is about 10 years old.

Remember, Classic and OPG are connected at the hip. Wink

I will stop in to OPG next week and ask.

I suppose there are many behind-the-scenes connections in these businesses that most people don't know about. These days it's likely a matter of staying afloat as well as making a profit.

They have always been the same company even back when OPG was called Monte Carlo Exclusive. THey bought up all the NOS parts and started a company.

Fixed it for you. Wink

I like Carters myself. Edelbrocks are alright. We've been down this argument a few times before though & I usually end up the lone supporter for the E team.

I have an Avenger and it works good but I like to tinker too.We did basically nothing to that E-brock years ago and it still works with no leaks.

If those carbs worked too good, we wouldn't have any fun at all........ Sad
