hello from slovenia, europe

Post by abajc3 on Mon Nov 08, 2010 3:46 am

hi!

my name is andrej, im from slovenia, europe and i own a 77 malibu classic coupe. it has a 305 v8 and a th350 tranny. i have had this car for about a year now and it is my first car, i bought it when i was 18. previous owner didnt care much about maintenance, so there is still a lot of work to be done. overall it is a solid car with very little rust and thats important for me more than cosmetic issues. it was painted with a roller to a matte black color and it aint no masterpiece, but i kinda like that rock n roll look, so im not planing to repaint it any time soon.

here are some photos from when i bought it previous summer:

Welcome Andrej. Europe is in the middle of a 1970s American buying binge. It seems they enjoy quality more over there instead of America's love for cheap junk smaller cars. JB

Welcome to the forum!

I'm digging the red stripe over the back end. It really compliments the car's flat black paint.

is yours also faded as much as mine or is it in better shape? power windows are sweet, but i dont think im going to convert mine any time soon, building a decent 383 is my first priority, th 700r4 next and then probably the rear end. but its going to take some time since chevy engines are hard to find over here.

where do you guys buy parts for your cars, ebay or some other site?

I don't know about the dash, but my seats are faded a bit, I want to clean them up, and wondering how to do it. My dash is also cracked but not as bad as yours, Ill try to get a picture up soon.

Alot of us get our parts from other members on the site, and I have used rockauto.com for a lot of the parts.

Welcome aboard! Mechanical parts that are common to Chevies of any year are fairly easy to get, suspension parts also cross to other body styles and generations depending on what you are looking for. The hard part is mainly finding interior pieces, specifically the plastic trim parts. No one reproduces the dash, but they can be refurbished.

Don't be shy about asking if you can't find an answer about these things by searching through this site.
