Max tire width?

Post by Biomedtech on Mon Dec 20, 2010 5:11 pm

Does anyone have any idea what size gummies we can shoehorn into the stock wheel tubs?

I'm looking at putting on 18" or 19" rims.

He's running 19x8 up front & 20x10 out back. I believe the backspacing on the rear is 5.5" & they are wrapped in 315/35r20's. A 315/40r19 is gonna be about the same size as his rear.

Now if you were running a 15" or 16" rim, then a 325 section width would be your max size due to having more sidewall height. Try to resist going with 26" tall tires because they won't look right. You need them to be 28"+ to really fill the rear & probably 27-28" tall up front.

You're close Rago -

I'm running 19”x8” and 20”x10” Rushforth Fuel wheels, wrapped in Nitto 275/35/19’s and 315/35/20’s.

Backspacing: 19x8 with a 5" and 20x10 with a 5.75"
I have 4 wheel Baer Disk Brakes, so you would compensate with 1/8" less backspacing if you had the stock set up.

The wheels and tires tuck perfectly and have NO issues with rubbing even with the car 3" lower. No air shocks required!

As for running 15's.... I'm not sure you'd be able to go with a 325 tire if you plan on tucking like your Avatar. With the bulge in the sidewall, you might nail the lip.

Then again, if we're talking about rolling the lip, it's a whole new ball game.

The owners are awesome people to work with. I actually know them, so I got a pretty good deal. They're pretty much the most down to earth people you're going to meet.

The polished aluminum finish and clear coat list for about $730.00 a piece. Look around though, can sometimes find "group" deals through of their distributors.

I like to drive my car, so polishing the rims every month wasn't an option. That's why I went with the clear coat. It takes a little of the shine away, but they still look great, and clean up in a few minutes.

affraid I guess that's what you pay for when you want custom. Foose & Billet Specialties aren't any cheaper.

I'd like to find some wheels modeled after the late 80's GTA / Buick GNX wheels but in 17" or 18" diameter with 10" wide rears. They would look badass on a blacked out G3!

Limey, the don't have a deep enough lip & 16" tires are harder to find. Besides, have you seen what they go for? I could surely find something in the size that I want for those prices.

Leave the snowflakes to Smokey & the Banditos.

Sorry to hi-jack the thread BTW.
