Air cleaner snorkel on a 74

Long story short, a fella with a '77 Monte Carlo pulled up in my driveway today, and tried to tell me that 74s had the air snorkel going to the top of the radiator. He says "I got one of those in perfect condition, and I took it off of a 74!" I told it it was probably swapped out, for I have NEVER seen a 74 with an air snorkel, original.

Anyone ever seen one?

I got an overhaul manual that shows them, but for 76. Funny thing is that I have seen the mounting points on the radiator shroud cover, but never actually seen a complete system. You can tell if it was equipped by looking at the shroud cover. Should be a spot for a bolt to go through on the front of the pass. side.

For what it's worth, my '74 Chevelle doesn't have the dork-snorkel (nor does it look like it has a spot for it), but my '77 station wagon does and it has the full snorkel assembly...

I think mine was as close to stock as it could get when I picked it up, no snorkel on it. If I had to get one for mine I'd like something like this.

Anyone have a photo of the 74 and earlier car air cleaner? Are they just like the other earlier ones with the fixed snorkel on the air cleaner itself?

Yes that is correct.

except the 73/74 big blocks have a bigger snorkel.
