Guy walking on top of cars towards the end is NOT cool. That is strictly forbidden wherever I go for obvious reasons.

With the price of scrap these days, I'm amazed that they aren't crushing them.

he even walks on a malibu at 5.25 if im not mistaken.

it was my dream as a kid to own a junkyard, i was always begging my dad to go visit them. i even had my own junk car when i was around 5,parked in our vineyard, spent hours inside it pretending i was driving and dreaming of fixin it one day. then one day we took it to a yard, turns out my mom doesnt share the passion for old cars with me. it was one of the saddest days in my life.

we have had a law here for about 7 years that says all used up cars must be scrapped, so sights like this are history, and so are abandoned cars. there used to be a bunch of them around.

i sometimes go to italy to pull some parts, as i live very near to the border. they still have cars out in the yards. im quite surprised you dont have any ecological regulations about oil and fluids leaking into the ground.

Make no mistake about it, the PCA (Pollution Control Admin) is constantly breathing down these yard owners' necks. Most owners just tired of the cost and hassle of dealing with all their requirements and just sold out to land developers. I think it would be near impossible to start a salvage yard in this day and age.

we have Pull-a-Parts here. the car comes in,gets ALL fluids drained than put in its proper category. you pull your own part, and pay a fixed rate (per part).

Same here...called U Pull R Parts. Very few cars older than 1985 roll in, though. But when they do, you can sure get a good price on vintage parts because of their one price for any year policy! Once picked up an AM/FM/8 Track/CB radio w/tri-band power antenna for $19. Sold it on e-Bay for $270!
