Hi folks, 73 laguna Elky owner here

Post by staledog on Sun May 01, 2011 7:38 pm

Hey everyone, I just found out about this site! (amazing what you can find online these days).. I've been browsing elcaminocentral.com for some time but was happy to find that there is a site specific to the 73-77 models!

Anyway I have a '73 El Camino with a 454, it could really use a restoration sometime soon but it runs good, and looks good from more than a few feet away so I'm just happy to have it. I've done a few basic things to it, nothing major. Anyway here's a pic, assuming I can follow the directions on how to upload one correctly...

looking forward to interacting with the group!

Thanks everyone..

Limey I see you're from Byron. Last fall I took the kids up there for the Wheelie contest, after wanting to go for years. It was awesome! Since our local dragstrip (gateway) closed this year, I'm thinking we'll probably be at Byron again this year. It was a great show!

Thanks again for the compliments everyone. I get asked all the time if I did the paint, the answer is no, I actually bought it like that. But it's starting to crack in some places (especially on the rubber nose) so I'm hoping to teach myself some bodywork and painting skills next winter and give it a new paint job.

How long have you had this?

Did you buy it from a guy named Chris in Michigan, by any chance?

I've had it a little over 5 years...as far as I know the person who had it before me was in Collinsville, IL. (home of the world's largest ketchup bottle)

Okay.

Cause a few years back, when I had my '74 Chevelle, a fella sent me a fender emblem for it and he had an El Camino like this. He sent me a picture of it, but I think I threw it away.

"threw it away"?!?! NO SOUP FOR YOU!!

however, you do have a sweet pic of Mr. Sheen as your avatar, so all if forgiven. I have a sweet "Duh, Winning!" sticker that I'm gonna slap on the back window of the Elky, just for fun. Cool
