73 chevelle rear end
I need pics of the 73 chevelle rear without the bumber. I wont to see what i am in for when i put one back on my car. The previous owner smoothed out the rear with rivets and bondo from the looks of things. Maybe i should keep the smooth look not sure. It looks more like corvette this way.

Actually, I kind of like it, which surprises me. It would look good with split bumpers, like what was on the front of some late 70s Camaros. JB

I like the look, but I would be adding a pair of nerf bars to protect it from idiots who might bump it.

Thanks guys for looking and all your opions. I do like the looks but i am going to have to redo the work. I like the rear bumper on the 73 too. The workmanship was not done to last. I would of done all steel with it (fully welded) and done a better job on the gas tank fill neck. If you look close you will see a crack there by the lisence plate. It doesnt open right and filling with a gas can is next to impossible. After seeing a nova get rear ended today and roll away with no damage has me thinking i need some american steel back there.

Re: 73 chevelle rear end
I believe I saw the add for your car roughly about a year ago. I was searching through craigslist and ran across a "73 SS" that was for sale. picture was really dark and in a garage. I called and talked with a lady and she said they had to dig it out of the garage as there were kids toys all around it, I ended up not driving to look at it. I remember that back end though.

Yap one and the same. I could hardly walk around it in there. Its no SS as far as i can tell. What would the vin be for an SS. It has a small block chevy in it suposed to be a 350 but havent made sure. Your probly glad you didnt make the drive i have alot of rust to deal with. My dash isnt an SS dash either. Mmmm

2nd digit will be "D" signifying Malibu. No real way to identify from VIN, just have to find the build sheet. Not sure if there are any other ways to get 100% positive identification.

Re: 73 chevelle rear end
The 73 has no shocks in the back for the bumper. Just brackets. Get your drill and a grinder and get that mess outa there before it rots the rest of the car.
