I consider the 8.5 inch 10 bolt a good rear end. I hate to break it to you, but you might have the weak 7.5 inch 10 bolt. I could be wrong, am going by memory and its pretty much shot. The reason I say this is because I was thinking the 8.5 had the 5x5 bolt pattern only in 91. Confirmation anyone? JB

Police package Caprices got 5x5 bolt pattern. If you have 5x4.75 bolt pattern then you have the weaker 7.5 rear 10 bolt. The good rear axle is 8.5 & had a 5x5 bolt pattern for sure. My 90 is a box & it has 5x5 8.5 rear with drum brakes & 3.42 gears. I would have changed this over to Brown Eye for the gearing & 30 spline axles, but I'd lose my wheels & posi.

as for the wheels if you really wanted too keep the 4.75 bolt pattern im pretty sure you would just have to replace axles with aftermarket but i was working on a budget so 5x5 is what i kept
