Hi all
Hello to all
My name is Paul (77mali) and just joined up after discovering this site. Happy to be alongside fellow enthusiasts of these beautiful Gen 3 A bodies. I had a 77 Cutlass Salon in high school and loved that car. Oh the memories! I've always been an enthusiastic gear head and my current project is a 77 Malibu Classic which I found last November. I'm currently in the midst of a restoration & customization and plan to take her to a high driver quality level. She was born w/ the 305 (long gone) but retains her original TH350 and Posi rear end. The plan is to drop in a 1970 LT-1...if I can ever find a good one! Saving the engine bay for last...lots more work to do....
Best regards to everyone.

Re: Hi all
Welcome aboard, my friend! You should find this site to be very helpful and plenty of friendly advise and ideas.
By the way, I always loved those '77 Cutlasses, too. Swore when I graduated college back in the day that I'd own a new one. Unfortunately, that never happended...but, never forgot how much I liked all those mid-70's "A" bodies.

Re: Hi all
Thank you. This is a wonderful site. Personally, If I had the $$$$...I'd buy one of each 73-77 A-body from all the divisions. Love-em all.

Welcome to the site, Paul. You gonna keep it yellow? The avatar pic looks good.

Re: Hi all
Thank you JB & Big Red....
Not leaving it yellow...just not my cup of tea but thank you for the compliment. Car has a real solid body. That was the main reason I decided to buy...no cancer at all, even after removing the 2 vinyl tops...Going with a theme of flat black w/ matte finish clear coat, a more sinister look. I'll post some pics but it'll be a while, still working on the roof and body.

Re: Hi all
Never heard of anyone putting a new vinyl top over the old one. Guy must have been afraid of what he might find under the first one.

Re: Hi all
I know I breathed a sigh of relief after all was said and done. Here's what I had on the roof too...but no holes. Worst place was up under the window trim in two spots in the lower right side and upper left side...go figure.

Re: Hi all
Wow, that is solid and clean in compare to what I have seen that has been found by others on here. Two tops? Man, people do some strange stuff. "A little duct tape here, some expanding foam here, and I that beer can looks good too.....and they will never know know its a rotted panel" (rolls eyes).

Re: Hi all
Yes...in my opinion, if you going to do it at all, do it once and correctly. Pays off in the long run. This is still "roughed in". But little by little w/ patience you do get there eventually.
