1977 El Camino grille

Post by Willem on Sun Nov 13, 2011 12:47 pm

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a '77 El Camino/Malibu/Chevelle grille, the one with the vertical strips. Preferably without emblems and not chrome.

Thanks!

I painted the grille I'm using in my Elco project. It's a '77, and it's plastic, and had chrome on the vertical bars. If you can find one, just paint it semi-flat black.

There are a couple '77's sitting up here at one of the yards, but I seem to remember looking at the grills earlier this summer and noting that they were damaged. Be glad to check them out again if I can get out there in the next week or so.

That's not a '77...maybe a '75 (?)

Ok...thought i would try. I know more about the Lagunas than the Classics. I thought I pulled that one from the '77 that I had. It must have come from the race car. it was a '75. Sorry Willem.

Yes Pila is right, don't worry about it though Zot, I appreciate all the help I get. Wink
Apparently, grilles from '77's are pretty rare?

Sorry to tell you this...but, I checked out the three '77 El Caminos out at the yard and the grills were broken or missing on all of them. Can only keep an eye out for you in case something rolls in.

Yessir! That is one nice Elcy. Cool
Mine had no emblems, are the emblems removable?

Yes...all the emblems are removeable. They have a backing plate with a couple speed nuts that hold them on. The 77 grill is one of the hardest to find from my experience. They are often cracked or badly pitted.
