1973 SS Wagon........so he says

I actually emailed the seller about this car so I could verify it was a true SS, since I have been looking for one. This dude replies back and tells me to google the car so I can see how rare it is and that I should BELIEVE him that it is a reall SS and not a knockoff! A little frustrated, I replied to him and asked for it again to which he replies this time, if you don't believe me, don't bid on it! WTF! Way to make the sell A-hole.........

That tailgate screams
to me, a 67 era SS impala badge? As well as all the additional holes below the badges, although it could have swapped from a base model...

No VIN# in the listing either, very suspect. (Fake stripes too I reckon).

Was thinking the same thing. Don't think any of the tailgate badging is original to this wagon. Still, it doesn't prove it's NOT a true SS. Did Chevy assign a special VIN for these SS wagons? Have heard of a true 454 SS wagon up here in MN, but owner won't sell. Would like to get a look at it.

In 1973 a "Z" in the 5th digit would have indicated it was at least born with the 275HP 454 engine & I believe it was that engine (made by Chevrolet only) that was part of the SS Pkg.

Lmao.
"Y" indicates a 454. And the 1973 454 was 245 HP. Dropped to 235 in 1974.

My bad the Z code is Corvette & not Malibu for 275 HP.

Re: 1973 SS Wagon........so he says
His phone number is listed in the ad. Call him, since most people are less likely to be an A$$ on the phone if you are sincere and seem like a buyer.
VIN has no indication if it is an SS. Besides it has a 350 in it, so why would it matter what the code was for a 454?
With a wagon, interior condition is pretty important since there are up to three seats, all the trim panels are wagon specific and would be tough to replace. Plus there are no pictures listed of the interior.
It's probably as nice inside as it is outside....

I'm kinda ignorant about all the different models of available Chevelles in the '73-'77 years. I wasn't aware of an SS wagon......( I don't get out much)

Well, tried calling the guy twice and he didn't return my call. Not the correct roof rack on it either.

Re: 1973 SS Wagon........so he says
Maybe with the one bid on it so far, he's satisfied that it will sell for his minimum asking price...so, why bother with phone calls questioning it's authenticity? Guess if I were in the market for a wagon, this is still a cool looking one for the money...and, should it turn out to be a true SS...all the better.
