The June 2007 story grabbed my attention: 1957 Plymouth Belvedere unearthed in Tulsa OK, a Route 66 town. I know several people who were there in person. I watched it live on the internet before we left for Dad's team's softball game that Friday evening.

The car has been above ground 5 years, after being under ground 50. But, hardly any news; my main 2 sources don't seem to be very up-to-date. Maybe I'm the only one curious as to what has happened or is happening to the car...? Or, maybe I've just missed recent news?

Probably sold to be crushed! I had no doubt what to expect when they dug it up. BTW, just because you expect to get rid of your cars does not mean you are not welcome to drop by the site now and then. JB

I cant imagine what those knuckleheads were thinking when they buried that. WHY would you put a complex piece of metal into the ground in concrete and expect it to be there 50 yrs later. That sure was a beautiful car when it was new.

I remember this story from before the internet as we know it existed. It was an urban legend about a 57 Chevy getting buried. At least that's how I heard it. I was shocked to find it was true in 06 as they were preparing the 50th. I hoped something great would happen to her, I got a soft spot for early mopars.

hey I live here and don't understand it, tulsa's water table is too high, reason we dont have basements here. Storm cellars are usually full of water also, thats why they have the above ground storm rooms now.

I've "unearthed" 2 sources since I posted. Amazing what you can find online, isn't it? Sharing them, in case anyone else is interested, too....
