Hello - 75 Malibu Classic

Post by BK-75 on Mon Oct 22, 2012 1:51 am

Hi, I bought my 75 Chevelle Malibu Classic less than a month ago and have been browsing ever since. Tons of great info here!

Car was a well taken care of North Carolina car most its life that made its way to the Northeast in the past few years. Itís an awesome driver, no rust - original 58000 mile car with some scratches and dings here and there.

I already fixed a few small things; the AC & blower motor, and have bigger plans toward replacing the steering box (12:1) & tightening the suspension. The springs are so soft and sagging it could prob use training wheels mounted to the door handles Wink

My Daughters affectionately named her Pumpkin latte when they first met her, now its just Pumpkin for short.

Appreciate the warm welcome! The color is pretty cool and there are some signs that some panels were repainted. Some day she will get a fresh coat of Persimmon Medium Orange Poly.

Clean car. Not a big fan of orange, but I'd make an exception for that car. I just got a 75 myself, but not as clean as that one. Very nice car.

The '75 Laguna I picked up this summer is also this same Persimmon Med. Orange Poly. I've never been drawn to this color on a car, but I've got to say, these cars look great in it IMO! I'd like to incorporate some graphics or trim in that black Organosol paint that was used on the hoods of cars like the AAR 'Cuda to really set it off!

I came across this post after I Googled "1975 Malibu" to show a coworker what my old car looked like. Imagine my surprise when I saw a picture of your car, as it looks vaguely familiar:

The above picture was taken in 2001 shortly after I inherited it from my uncle's estate. He had acquired it in 1991 when my grandfather passed away in 1991. He bought it new at Mize Motor Company in Eden, NC in late 1974. I added Rally wheels, rh door mirror, a Delco AM/FM radio, a NOS dash clock, and cat-back dual exhaust. It had around 46k miles when I sold it in late 2003. It really was a nice car.

Welcome. The car sure looked nice, especially with some rally wheels. So you don't currently own any g3's?

No, that was the only g3 I ever had. I mainly was in Mustangs and Torinos. But I must say that was a great riding car. Today, I wouldn't mind having another g3, especially a '75 Laguna.

Wow! I almost fell off my chair seeing this post Martin. Itís amazing to get some information of the cars past!

Still has the Mize Motors- Eden, NC placard on the trunk and I left the yellow NC registration-inspection sticker on the windshield. Current miles are 56,000. It really is in great condition. When I bought it the car was titled to an owner in Pittsfield Massachusetts.

Funny timing of this post, I was working on her this morning replacing the rear springs and new shocks all around. I always knew the car was loved and continues to make my family and I happy when we take her out for a ride.
These cars always seem to leave a lasting impression. Martin so Awesome to see your post today!

Thanks!

I'm so glad it's in good hands. My grandfather really cared for that car. It truly was only driven to church on Sundays for the last ten years he was alive. He had a S10 Blazer that he used for everyday driving. I think the only thing I have from that car still is the blanking plate I removed to install a factory clock. If I find anymore pictures of it I'll be sure to pass them along.

I would love to see any additional pictures if you come across any. Your Grandfather did a fantastic job taking care of the car; it really is a loved vehicle (past/ present).
