The back is definitely different, 73 is old school where as the 74 has the 5 mph bumper. The fronts look similar but I believe they are different also.

the shocks is what the front different now that I remember you may get away with going from 73 to 74 Bumper but you have to use the front shocks from the later years as well

The chrome parts are different for each of those years. Yes the shocks are different, so to use the opposite year shocks you also have to change or modify the "guts" on the rear of the bumper.

73 bumper guts mount to the sides of the shocks, 74 bumpers have threaded shafts sticking out of the rear guts that just slip straight into the front of the shocks and you put the nut on the back.

I wish I could easily add a '73 rear bumper to my '74 but even if it was a easy bolt on, then I would have two places to Mount a license plate. donotcare

Only thing is, are the bumper filler panels gonna fit ? There are differences over the years in the G3 cars.

thanks for the input on this ...

I got a guy wanting to give me a deal on front and back bumpers ... but they are off of a 74, not a 73.

I was going to tuck the bumpers, so the filler was not an issue ... but I didn't want to have to do a bunch of modification on the mounts, guts, etc, to make them work.

Just fyi, my posting up above about the shocks is for the fronts. As for the rear bumpers and mounting, the 73 is the only year that bolts to the SIDES of the frame in the rear. All the other years have threads sticking out of the bumper (rear) and they just slide right on and you put the nuts on. Not so with a 73, different animal.

Just dont want you to get stuck with something you cant use.
