Will these centerline draglites fit?? Backspacing?

Post by carcass on Wed Jun 05, 2013 1:55 am

So theres a pretty good looking set of Draglites with new looking BF Goodrich Radial TA's on em on craigslist and the add says the fronts are 15x7 with 3.5" backspacing with a 225/60. The back wheels are 15x10 with a 5.5" backspacing and a 275/60 tire.
What do you think will they fit my 74 Malibu classic??
Is a 225/60 gonna look WAY to small in the front?
Is a ten inch rim to wide for a 275/60 ?
Sorry if this has been posted before, I did do a search and found some info on here for what is needed, but I'd sure like some help making the call on these wheels here is the add.

Before you shell out that kind of cash, you might want to invest in something like this:

Wheelrite measurement tool

It will allow you to duplicate the wheel & tire measurements and see if it will actually fit.

I do NOT think they will fit I had 5" BS on mine and was tight as hell on inside of frame rail with a 275/60 tire on it that other 1/2" might make it rub

It might work with some finagling, such as spacers or an adapter. Mine are 275's on 17x9's with 6" of backspacing. When in doubt, though, it's best to get the measurement tool and mock it up first to be sure before ponying up the money.

Yah I passed on the wheels, I want bigger wheels and tires in front, 15x8 with 245/60's or so and 15x10's in back with 295/55's in back or maybe 15x8's all around with 275/60's in back.
But dand those WELD draglites are killer, and look just like the car in the movie Drive.

These wheels look close, do you guys think the Drive car has 275/60's in back on 8" rims?

the car in the picture appears to have 10 inch rims in the back, and 8 inch on the front.

I have 15 x 10 on the back with 295/50 BF Goodrich radial t/a's, and 15 x 8's in the front .... I would send you a picture, but my car is apart right now, doing a complete frame-off.

the back spacing on the rear of mine was 4 1/2, and they fit fine.

hope that helps

Thanks for the info, do the 4.5" backspacing rear wheels with the 295's fit without airshocks? What do you have in the front for backspacing and tires? And do they rub?

Also the car in the photo is Ryan Gosling's 73 from the movie Drive. That movie made me want to buy a third gen A body in the first place.

I agree that a 225/60 will look too short on the front. You want something that will at least be close to 27" tall. The backs, I can't say. I know on the 68-72 that is the setup a 10" wheel with 5.5 bs. I would have to look closer at mine, I actually want to go with a 275/60 on an 8" wheel on the back.
