The 71 4 door
Well here it is from Rago
I traded the 73 Malibu "LeRoy" for it.
I put the buick magnums on it and got the interior gutted, gonna paint up the floors and install new carpet after I get a new windsheild in it and the leaks fixed.

Re: The 71 4 door
Think I found a fender with inner and fender extension for it.
Gonna try to get the trans out soon.

Nice work. When's the 4-5-4 goin in? Looks like the floors were pretty solid & those wheels really set the car off! Keep me updated man.

Re: The 71 4 door
dunno yet. I gotta get one built. Im trying to decide whether to do the low compression turbo 454 or the high compression nitrous'd 454
Both should run good. Thinking the turbo'd 454 would run low 11s to mid 10s maybe with the boost cranked up, still get fairly good gas mileage and cruise anywhere. Or the HC 454 will have to run race gas all the time and get crappy gas mileage and run mid to low 11s all motor and mid to low 10s on 200 shot and high 9s on 300 shot. Yes it will handle it for a while anyways. But I can always do the low compression turbo'd motor with a 100 shot, thatd be fun.
The 350 will stay in it for a while. Want to get everything sorted out and the rust fixed before anything with major power goes in it. The floors are perfect. I drilled some holes to drain the smelly muddy water out of them. It still stinks BAD in there.
Trying to get the parts together to build up the TH350 instead of putting in a TH400. Man TH350s are cheap to build compared to TH400s.

It's a factory 350. Might as well keep it on there since the emblem wear matches the rest of the car. It would look kind of funny with a shiny 307 emblem on a dingy paint job.
Besides, if you were sitting next to it at a stoplight, would you ever pin it for anything more than cheap transportation? (other than the purr of that exhaust, right Black? )
I say go turbo, but I guess you know why. If you need help fabbing or anything just give me a ring. Of course a little 104 octane fumes might clear the air inside...
Dang. I keep posting & having to modify... That Chevelle is the reason I traded it for my Eclipse in the first place. I love that car.

BTW, when you comin to pick up the other half... You know, the good car ROTFL!
I got tired of modifying, but Limey I actually had planned on buying 2 15x8 or 15x10 Nova rallies for the back to match the front. That would be a real sleeper. Everybody's done the dog dish cap, who's done Nova Rallies? Of course, I kept the rallies though. If I don't end up with some wheels in about a week or so, I'm gonna have to buy some tires for them cause I got 2 slipped belts & don't want to waste money putting tires on the mismatched junk I'm running.

Re: The 71 4 door
Will do. He's supposed to be sending me some better pics & a price. If I can scrape up some cash, I'll probably get them. It's kind of hard to tell if those are Keystone Klassics or the Cragar S/S knockoffs from the pic in the thread though.

Re: The 71 4 door
Yea I need to come get that. Hey do you think you can pull it out of that hole and infront of your dads shop with the tractor or something? Dont want to go through that mess agian. That was a nightmare.
The winch is fixed LOL that sucked as well.
I think ill put the flapper cowl induction hood on my 70 and then take the stock SS dome hood and put it on the 4 door.

Re: The 71 4 door
I'll see if it can. We had a hell of a time trying to move it where it's at. Might have to pull it with a truck or something with some guts. You know a Ford can't cut the mustard, lol. It is in an easier to move spot, but trying to get anything in & out of there pretty much sucks. I helped haul my old Bronco from the spot where we put the 73 & it was pretty much drive up, back in, & load. Maybe if I can at least get it moved closer it will help. Good to hear the winch is OK though. For this one you're gonna need it.
I had the cars for maybe six months I think. I just traded for the eclipse & put them on the backburner when I found a 455 for the Cutlass. Never got around to removing anything, just getting the motor fired up. The guy I got them from said he was taking the front end off to swap on the 2 door. Course he also said he was swapping the frames, lol, rrriiight. What's up with the fender?

Re: The 71 4 door
just all the bolts are removed and it was barely hanging on. Im probably pulling the front clip to clean it all out anyways there are leaves everywhere.

Re: The 71 4 door
Ohh, just making sure it wasn't screwed or anything. The leaves are probably my fault, lol. BTW just checked Myspace, looks like I got it around July or August last year. Wow, I didn't think I had them that long. Guess they went unnoticed out there. Hopefully I'll be buying the place in a few months so all of my projects will be in one place instead of spread out.

Re: The 71 4 door
yea sounds like a good deal. I like the place but need some tree clearing just a little.

Re: The 71 4 door
You didn't see it when we moved out there almost 11 years ago. That spot you used to turn around, where most of the cars up there are parked, & in front of the house used to be nothing but dense woods. It took about 5 years to get it cleared to the point it's at now. It will take me a couple more to clear a good turn around spot for anyone unfortunate enought to pull a trailer in there, lol. I plan on taking the 4 wheeler trail where the 4 door was parked & opening that area up kind of like a circle drive.

Re: The 71 4 door
Got the tranny out today and it is the original trans. Its in great shape for 171K on it. The flex plate was shattered and it fubared the pump up pretty bad so all it needs is a new pump but I took it apart anyways. I forgot how much harder it is to build th350s than th400s.
So im doing the valve body mods, red clutches, hardened race, and the 5 clutch upgrade. So it should be pretty strong. well find out when the 1000hp rat motor gets droped in. The question wont be if it will break, but when it will break.

Re: The 71 4 door
haha I just took the grinder to the quarter you should see how much work thats gonna be. OH $H!T what did I get into I was thinking when I was doing it. Hell I still dont know what to do about it. Also found out that it has 2.56 non posi rear, theres a big rust hole in the frame and the rockers are pretty shot.

Re: The 71 4 door
Well, you have a few options:
1. Find a 4 door with solid quarters, cut them out, & weld up. (not likely to find any though)
2. Cut out the rust, make your own quarters out of sheet metal & weld up. (best solution, but tougher than it sounds)
3. Cut out the rust, get some fiberglass sheets & mold it to the remaining metal. (easiest to accomplish, waaay better than Bondo, but less durable than going with new sheet metal)

Ouch... rotted frame? Hopefully the 2 door is solid in that spot, then it's just cut & paste, lol.
