Its a Lenco. Usually used in heavy duty race cars. Odd to be in there but cool.

Never encountered one myself, but IIRC the idea was that each gear shift was thrown by a different rod. So instead of yanking the stick around an H pattern, you simply threw the next rod, and they're widely spaced to avoid throwing the wrong one. Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm off base here.

Its actuall an auto. So you cant miss a gear they all go down too.

Kinda awkward for the street, in traffic, but a nifty transmission. I believe it has gears with clutches like an auto trans, like ant7377 said. And I think reverse is on the right side !!
