The old Caddy beater Empty The old Caddy beater

Today I finally got my old ( well, not as old as the Elco ! ) '85 Caddy running today.  The fuel pump ( in-tank) died a couple of months ago.  Actually I haven't driven it in a couple of years, but was trying to move it this past winter, when it died.

Had to drop the tank. Now that sounds like an easy job....on a Malibu or Elco it is, but not this time Head Bang
Anyway, I cleaned it up good & painted it, bought new filler hose & vent hose for it.  The lines from the sender/pump assembly were quite rusty, so I cut them off a bit & made new extensions for them. Replaced a few sections of fuel & return lines.
So anyway, it's ready to rumble !  Not ! ..It has a 4.1 POS engne, which runs good though, and gets good mileage.  It's the HT4100.  Now the HT stands for High-Tech, which is a big GM joke ! Clapp
That was the easy part.....I have to pull the engine to change the crank seal.  It's FWD...so ya know what that means...
I've had the engine out twice over the years, for cam change etc.  It's a week long job, going by the checklist in the service manual, which the only way to do it in the shortest time.
I really like driving this car.  It corners very well, and I have a Pioneer CD receiver in it, interfaced to the Bose system in the car.  Great sounding system ! Very Happy

Ouch, it sucks when crank seals go but if you like the car, it's well worth it.

I have to give you credit, I hate working on Cadillacs (especially northstars).  Good luck. Exclamation
