I just ordered a quadrajet from Mountain Man. He needed some car info to set it up. I bought my engine years ago from a guy who had it built for his 85 chevy pickup to hall a camper around. It is a Chevy 400 from a 74 station wagon. I found the engine build receipts and gave the info to Mountain Man. So, at the risk of proclaiming my ignorance and embarrassing myself, I would love to know exactly what I have if anyone knows these things.
Isky 201262 cam - 9.5:1 compression, rpm range 1800-5000, valve lift .425-.435
SBC roller T/S 100

Cast rings SEA E243x.030
Cam bearing set M77 SH290S

Main spring set M77 MS1038P.010
Crane Cams CRA 99377-16
AA SS9 - I have no idea what this last one is.

Go on Crane cams web site. That is a part number for a cam. It will give the cams specs (Lift, duration and so forth) If you call Crane they will tell you what application they spec that cam for (racing, towing, stock replacement) .

It is an isky cam for towing and torque applications. 1800-5000 rpm means for the most part it is a stock replacement cam. Something that would be a slight upgrade over stock and right at home in a pickup truck. So for your carb, you are not going to need much over a stock carburetor. The cam is hydraulic flat tappet, the Crane number is for the lifters not the cam. Basically it is built with rebuilder parts, and .030 over so it is a 406 displacement now. As far as compression I would not expect it to be much more than 9:1.

The last time I did my 400, (408), the flat top pistons made 9.2 with the 76 CC heads, so 9.1 was a good guess ! Very Happy
