Re: LS7 Laguna S3
Hey. The engine is out of a 2008 Z06 Corvette. I found it in Houston. The rear end got side swiped.
The LS7 is the all aluminum 7.0L or 427 cubic inch Z06 505 HP Corvette engine. It has an 8 quart dry sump oiling system, factory CNC ported heads, forged titanium connecting rods, titanium intake valves, forged crank, and some other little items. With the cam and spring kit I am using these engines usually put our around 560 RWHP.
Several stock Z06 Corvettes have run high 11's in the quarter at around 125mph. The top speed of the car is just over 190mph. Of course, all of this won't happen in a 4000lbs Laguna, but the addition of 4.10 gears and a Tremec T56 Magnum will help it get out of it's own way. Some Z06 owners have got 28mpg. Not so much with the Laguna, but we will see.
The tires to be used will be 295/35/17 on front and 335/35/17 rear.

Re: LS7 Laguna S3
It should be fun. It is to late for a factory tune. The cam and spring upgrade will require a custom tune. I am going to use a Tremec T56 Magnum with .410 gears. The car will more than likely come in right around 4000lbs. I would think that with a conservative 500rwhp the car might make it to 120mph in the quarter in the mid 12's. I think that would be very quick for this car, but the power will be there for that. I am really more interested in getting it in shape as a daily driver so I can use it for my business. I drive out west alot and I would like to see it just cruising across west Texas at 80mph. That is the speed limit on I-10 for 493 miles. When it is finished I am going to start early in the morning in Louisiana and drive the 880 miles of I-10 in one day. 880 miles and still just in one state. I wonder if that can be done in 11 hours???

Re: LS7 Laguna S3
Is that a 3 speed or 4 speed trans. If it's a 3 speed, it will be screaming at 80 MPH. I have a 3.42 rear gear with a T400 trans and at 60 MPH it is loud enough you can't turn on the radio. JB

Re: LS7 Laguna S3
It is the Viper spec 6-speed manual. 700lbs/ft capacity with double overdrives. With .410 gears 80mph should be around 1800rpm.

It's some work to put a 335/35 tire under one of these. I'm just finishing up getting it to go.

Re: LS7 Laguna S3
Yes it is. It took a good bit of tape measure work. Just getting the wheels just right is going to take some major surgery. We will see what Stockton Wheels can do. I sent the wheels in a few days ago and they are going to make some major changes to get them to fit just right. I am going to wait to lower the car until I get the tires and wheels on just to see how deep I can get them in the wheel wells.

Re: LS7 Laguna S3
If you are not going to tuck them then you will prob be ok but if a 13" wide rim tucked will hit the inner well. Requires a minitub and frame mod.

Re: LS7 Laguna S3
Hey. I am still waiting on the magical 7th day so I can post pics. I did pull out the Turbo 350 and cross member this weekend. I have a couple of other projects and I just got one home this weekend so that took some of my time. Lets see if this link to my photo bucket account works.

Re: LS7 Laguna S3
Hey. Man have I been busy with work. I just updated my photo bucket with a few pics of the LS7 when I got it back from the shop. They installed the Mast Motorsport cam and spring kit along with the new Proform valve covers. I am still waiting for my interior to be finished then I can move on to the transmission and headers.

Re: LS7 Laguna S3
Hey. I have been on a 4 month project in Die-Troit. I did get my wheels in. My interior is still getting worked on so nothing new there. I bought some new S3 emblems off eBay that are real nice. I bought the 6-speed crossmember and LS motor mounts. As soon as I finish this pipeline project I am going to get some paintwork done. Thank you for asking.

Re: LS7 Laguna S3
Not a chance. I got stuck in Detroit for 10 months. I did get to go on the Woodward Dream Cruise. Over 10,000 cars. I did not see one Laguna S3.
