Got me on that one. Only thing I would think is maybe something with the threads on the proportioning valve. Just like the changeover on the exterior door handle to the shorter length and I believe metric threads on some of them.

1973-1975 have 9" rear drum brakes while 1976-1977 have 11" rear drum brakes - lines will be different on the rear axle with the different size drums.

Thats very interesting Iggy!! Thanks for posting that.
I have my original 3.42 73 chevelle rear in storage. In the car is a 1977 monte rear (11" drums) which has been built and houses my 4.10 gears. I ordered the 73 chevelle brake line kit and installed it and had no issues with it lining up.

Limey, just food for thought.

I have the backing plates off a 1977 Monte Carlo axle for the 11" drums. I also have a 1975 Olds 442 axle (factory c-clip eliminator) that I will rebuild for my '75 Laguna. When I get the line kit, I will get a 1977 it even though there is no reason the earlier kit should not work - the rear cylinders are less than one inch off and the line should bend to fit that.
