Anyone got any tips for removing the stock wiper arms?  My book shows a special GM tool ...  Jacking

I use a brake spoon, which is easier than using a screw driver, to pry the side up, that is opposite from from the hinge in the arm. A rag under the bottom of the brake spoon keeps it from marring stuff around it etc...
Never owned the special tool....

If I remember correctly, isnt there a small tab that hangs out the bottom of the arm and hooks just below the splines?

Yep...a small tab needs to be compressed while you pry up on the arm. I use a small tack puller (looks like a screwdriver with an angled notched "v" at the end) to simultaneously compress the tab and lift up on the base of the arm. What makes them kind of difficult to remove is that the spring near the base wants to wedge the base so that it can't be easily lifted straight off the splined post. Takes a little fussing with to lift them off.

Thanks fellas. I have a body panel removal tool that might work.

Well I did it & didn't destroy anything (a plus for sure!)  The tab is there- kind of hard to notice unless you're looking for it.  The pass side was very easy to do.

My drivers side wiper is different, don't know if this is the same or not for the variety of these A-Body's but there was a little sliding tab on that side with a slightly different arm.  Used a body panel tool and needed the pry bars also. The smaller of the two-orange handles was required on the drivers side because of the shape of the cowl.

No prob. Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions too!

PS- remove the sliding tab thingy first, if you have a drivers arm like mine, then pry it off the splined post!

Lmao...looks like you were prepared to do battle with those three pry bars!! Like most things, you do enough of these and it becomes much easier.

BTW...all driver side facotry arms have that retaining clip. Also, see these on '70-'71 "A" bodies.
