Hi from Wisconsin

Post by Ramfett on Wed Dec 03, 2014 10:18 pm

Hi!

I've searched around and referred to this forum a few times and have found a lot of good info so I figured I might as well join.

I have a 1975 Monte Carlo that I've owned for just over a year now. (I'll post pics once I'm allowed to do so on here) It's still got the stock 350 2bbl/TH350 with 120k on it. I drive it daily when there isn't snow or salt on the roads here, which sadly isn't often enough here in WI. It's currently stored for the winter.

Since buying it, I've done some small things here and there, mostly body work, but once funds are available I plan to do a motor transplant and some brake/suspension upgrades. This is my first classic car, 21 years older than any other that I've owned previously and I'm still learning a lot about it. I love the simplicity of 70's cars!

I look forward to learning more here!

Here are some pics of my Monte as promised:

This is from a couple years before I took ownership. The guy I bought it from (and myself, too) is a big fan of the Mad Max films, hence the evil cop car theme. He took most of the stuff off and repainted it before he sold it to me, understanding others might not appreciate this look.

This is from the day after I first brought it home in fall of 2013, I played around with the values of the picture a bit to make it a bit more dramatic

This one's from this past spring, I fixed a few things on it, bought new Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T's, installed push bars that came with it and tinted the foglight llenses. I'm keeping sort of a Mad Max/rat rod theme going.

This is the car as of summer 2014. I cleaned up the wheels and painted them red and did a few minor rust repairs.

Rear shot, taken on the abandoned property of a former coke plant near the port of Milwaukee

This is a spoiler I added in late August. Home made from bent 14ga sheet steel, attached with stainless sheet metal screws.

Here she is about a week ago, with push bumpers removed to fit the car cover I use for winter storage. I brought her out for a couple days because of warmer weather and plenty of rain that had washed the salt off the roads. She's back in storage now.

Lol yep. Those badges came on the car, I never bothered to replace them. They throw people off all the time! Not that the 350 2bbl has a lot of power but I do like the sleeper aspect to them. I've surprised a few people already, it will be a lot more fun once I get a properly strong motor to throw in there.

It sure was, beige with a white vinyl top. I know from the previous owner that its transformation was considered blasphemous by some.

Nice ride. Just one thing. Please don't put a blower on like Mad Max had. You know the one that can be started and stopped with a switch.
