Big brake spindles

Post by brownbomber77 on Tue Mar 24, 2015 7:34 am

I've got set of spindles from a B-body that will yield 12" brakes using an 89-92 1LE rotor for 4.75x5 bolt pattern. They've been sand blasted and lathered in rustoleum gloss black. $150 plus the ride.

I'd double-check that 4.75" -- I upgraded to '93 B-body rotors when I installed my ABS, and the front wheels are now 5x5.

I have the 12" rotor also. But I have a 5x5 bolt circle.

Right. I'll copy the link from the trans am forum when I get home. iPhone isn't allowing me to paste. They do this swap for the 2nd gen trans ams. 88-92 1Le front rotors and b body spindles.

Thats why you use the 3rd gen fbody rotors (like he states in his post) instead of the b-body rotors, then you have the correct 4.75" instead of 5" BP. My brother runs the exact same setup on his '70

Oops, totally misread it. Saw B-body spindles and missed that rotors were from an F-body rotors. Do the rotors have the ABS ring in them?

I was reading this thread about the b-body spindles and 1LE rotors and I would like to do this to my car. My question is do you think they make these spindles in 2" drops? I would like to use 2" drop spindles in the front, but would also like to run these larger rotors.....

Would 94-96 Impala dropped spindles be what I am looking for? Then use the 1LE rotors on those?

Or am I better running stock b body spindles with 2" drop springs? This would be more cost effective.

Well if you need new springs anyway then yes. 2 inch springs would be more cost effective.

There is a drop spindle available for the 91-96 B-body, but it's pretty expensive. FWIW, I'm running the stock B-body spindle with 2" drop DSE springs if that helps give you an idea of what it would look like. Glad I didn't go any lower. Check out the photos in my gallery for larger images.

I am running DSE 2 " drop springs in the rear. I was planning on running what you have in the front. I just wondered if the dropped spindles were better but they are pricey.
I'll just get the drop springs and stock b body spindles.
Thanks for the advice guys.....
