1977 Orig Documents And Build Sheet--pics
Not sure where to post these. I thought they may be useful for someone down the road or just interesting?
NOT PICTURED: Uniroyal Tire Warranty pamphlet and the rest of the Chevy Warranty pages
Kinda fun.

Those are pretty neat! Maybe we should have an "Original Documents" section for them types of things?

Re: 1977 Orig Documents And Build Sheet--pics
Agreed.
In all the years I've owned G3s, I've only seen two other build sheets.
It would be interesting to see the difference in years and would come in handy for someone trying to restore to original.
I think we'll see more guys trying to do factory restos in the future, particularly on the Lagunas, Grand Ams etc.

Re: 1977 Orig Documents And Build Sheet--pics
I posted this on a different thread but here is my window sticker again.
I never found my build sheet from my original car but found it from my new body behind the rear passenger side molding. I will try and take a pic when I can.

Cool stuff
Build sheet
Invoice
Warranty papers
Application for Title
First service invoice. Car was bought 6/15/1977. Date shows 5/12/1989 at only 9772 miles. I would say old Clifton didn't get out much. We have 13 service invoices with the last one on 2/10/1992 at 40,197 miles

I'd file this under "VERY interesting" ... so cool to see original documentation. I've seen a few different build sheets over the years, but I also really enjoy seeing the original window sticker, original bill of sale from the dealership, etc.

Me too Cort.
I even like the service records.
Ol' Clifton took good care of that car, KC. You got a good one!

He did. I think it's funny every time he took it in for a oil change, he brought his own oil and filter. I also was looking at the service records last night and the last one I have is from 1992 with 40,000. We bought the car in 2014 with 52,000 on it. It seems when Clifton got rid of it, it didn't get many miles put on it.
Any idea when yours was built? 04/77 on ours

Re: 1977 Orig Documents And Build Sheet--pics
Delivered right before Christmas 1976...I haven't really looked at the build sheet too hard yet. I can never find my damn glasses and that **** is hard to see.
I decoded the tags last year, and I wanna say it was completed in early Dec. 76.
Where is it on the build sheet?

So do I! I have SOME service records for my 1979 & 1989 Caprice Classics, but since the '81mc was my parents' car since brand new ... I have a TON of service records for it ... ~2 file folders full. A few months ago, when I was clearing out old & unneeded paperwork, I took some time to sift through them ... rather fascinating, actually.

Re: 1977 Orig Documents And Build Sheet--pics
I wonder what trans you would get if you did not want to spend the $282 on a TH 350? I can't imagine a glide in that car. Did they even still make them?

Re: 1977 Orig Documents And Build Sheet--pics
Good question...I think GM used powerglides in COPO edition Camaros recently, but I think they were contracted trannys rather than actually GM built.
"Driven by customer demand, the new manual transmission joins the Powerglide automatic for the COPO Camaro’s transmission choices. Rear axle gearing is optimized for each vehicle, depending on the engine and transmission."
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CB4QFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fmedia.gm.com%2Fmedia%2Fus%2Fen%2Fgm%2Fnews.detail.html%2Fcontent%2FPages%2Fnews%2Fus%2Fen%2F2013%2FMar%2F0306-copo.html&ei=xDglVb3eDsnQsAXznILIAQ&usg=AFQjCNG9QBrJn4abdSvVTCOzP-B1gjKuZA&sig2=d4XRRJUsiJZK2CeZROrtKg
I assume if you didn't opt for the 350, you probably got a manual?

Very interesting, and cool stuff to have. Having all this extra documentation is a definite bonus in my opinion when having these old cars.Roadcaptain S3 wrote:Not sure where to post these. I thought they may be useful for someone down the road or just interesting?

I looked them up right after I bought the car. I was gonna contact them to see if they had an old dealer sticker or something.
Never did though.

Original Documentation
As the original owner of a 76 Malibu Classic I have all the original documents from Dealer invoice, purchase contract and also found build sheet under rear seat. My Malibu was built in Arlington, Tx.
Now, IF I could only figure our how to upload pics I would be forever grateful.

Re: 1977 Orig Documents And Build Sheet--pics
I have the build sheet and warranty info from my first El Camino also. Could not find the build sheet on the current El Camino. Does anyone know if GM had window stickers on El camino. I know that full size trucks did not have them. My father saved everything, so I'm guessing that they did not put them on an El Camino. I have seem many window stickers on line for the malibu but never for the El Camino.
