Replacing Turn Signal Switch Empty Replacing Turn Signal Switch

Is it really possible to change a turn signal switch by feeding the wiring connector through the column? I watched a YouTube video where a guy had a mid-70's Vega GT and he was able to both remove the old one and install the new one without cutting the wires. I was under the impression it was too tight in there and it was necessary to cut the wires on the replacement switch, feed them through and then splice at the plug connector.

Yes, you can change the switch with cam plate without cutting anything. The harness with the long, flat plug slides right down the column. Actually a pretty easy job. I did it on my 73 back in the 80's. And then on a 79 regal. No problems.

I changed one by pulling a piece of safety wire in while pulling the old one out, to get the new one pulled back in...
The " harmonica" connector will slide through OK...

Thanks for confirming that it can be done. Really didn't want spliced wires.

you can pluck the wires out of each connector with a paper clip. slide it through and put pins back in connector.

Good point. Always nice to have a Plan B in case the harmonica plug won't cooperate.
