I'll get you some pics with numbers this weekend from my 75 454 El Camino motor. Just to clarify, you need the v-belt numbers to get the proper length belts?

Re: This SE Now Belongs to my 18 year old daughter now LOL
well Just a Winter Update Got sick with that Nasty Covid and on the mends now but pulled my Asthma from a 10 year remission have to be on a Machine for Oxygen for a few months now BUT STILL gathering part's for the Springtime install..... Stepped up to an Edelbrock RPM air gap from the edelbrock performer 2.0 and compared side by side its a Monster LOL I think anyway's
Next was trying to Locate Brackets & Pulleys for stock and Prices are NUTS for that let me tell you that, So went with Alum pulleys for like $60 bucks and then Summit racing had a deal on Alum Alternator / Power steering bracket kit, then needed wire looms and Oil and Trans dipsticks, So pretty much just back to breathing semi Normal again and get back to the 454 Build and install

Limey got an Air Gap! You are going to like it. I have one on my 86 Silverado and one on the Laguna. I also had one on my 70 Camaro. Sorry to hear about the COVID.

That's the rectangle port one isn't it? That's the intake I want to get for my 496.

Re: This SE Now Belongs to my 18 year old daughter now LOL
I know Edelbrock advertises the performer 2.0 as an Oval Port Intake, if you measure it is actually a Peanut Port Intake, the RPM series are a true Large Oval Port or Rectangular Port. I have a Performer RPM Q-Jet for my 427 with 781 heads.

yes Sir Iggy it was what came on the Old motor that was bad and fit perfect on the 236 P Nut heads, this RPM AIR GAP is a Better fit for the 781 heads and I believe it will work out alot better for build

Re: This SE Now Belongs to my 18 year old daughter now LOL
Here is a picture of mine when I just started the porting process. You will have to get the gasket that you will be using and tape it on the intake and then the heads and take some measurements. If the intake is indeed a little larger than your port entry on your heads you might slightly match the heads to the intake. Most intakes have a slightly smaller port diameter than the heads as cast so you won’t be hitting a ruff edge on the head port and introduce a turbulent air/fuel mixture into the head. In the picture I have only started on the runners on the left. The ports are pretty big to begin with.

Re: This SE Now Belongs to my 18 year old daughter now LOL
Use the rectangle port gasket. You're not going to be doing any porting on this setup. You have an oval port head and a rectangle port intake. You are not going to get the head to match the rectangle port gasket. This is an old setup, it does work, but there will be a mismatch. Nothing you can do about it.

Revin Kevin is a walking encyclopedia. Or should we call you Mr. Big Block. So would my 75 454 have the small truck ports on the heads?

Re: This SE Now Belongs to my 18 year old daughter now LOL
1975 should still be Large Oval Ports, Peanut Port heads did not show up on Light Duty trucks until 1977, but Large Oval Port heads were used through 1978 on Light Duty trucks.

So this applies to a 75 El Camino as well?

Re: This SE Now Belongs to my 18 year old daughter now LOL
Yes the 75 el camino should have the open chamber oval ports on it. Hopefully its the 781 heads. The 049 was similar but was a shorter run production head.

Re: This SE Now Belongs to my 18 year old daughter now LOL
By 1977 the 454 was no longer available in cars, light duty trucks only. Medium duty trucks received tall deck 366 or 427 engines and some of those had Peanut Port heads, which is why they are referred to at truck heads. Once cars were no longer receiving big blocks, they started using the Peanut Ports on the Light Duty trucks with 454's to increase low end torque. Peanut Port heads were never put on an "A" body engine.

Careful g3, your going to get me in trouble with these guys. Hey Limey, I just zoomed in on the part number on the back of the intake. It is the 7562. That is the rectangle port version Air Gap.
