QA1 BOLT-IN Coil-Overs for 73-77!!
QA1 has finally answered our wishes and is now producing Bolt IN Rear Coil overs for the 73-77 A Body Cars. I just ordered up a set for the rear using Part number RCK52371 which is a dual adjustable shock with 170lb springs. None of the big box stores (Jegs or Summit) even list this part number yet.

I'd be interested to see pictures of the install. How much do they run?

I paid $700.00, as for install, the top bracket you enlarge the factory holes and bolt up that bracket. The bottom bracket you bolt thru the factory hole then drill another hole for the top of the bracket.
It offsets the shock to get it away from the Lower Control Arm

I know very little about the coil-over mods. What is the advantage over the usual suspension ?? Do you remove the OEM springs ??
Just wonderin'

Yes you remove the factory springs. The major advantage is the adjustable shock.

Like Bracket said the major advantage is the Double adjustable shock, being able to adjust the rebound and compression. the coil over spring is just a convenience for setting ride height

I would assume you can set ride height also??

To a certain point. The shock needs to be pretty centralized for up and down travel. There is usually a recommended eye to eye length range for the shock. If you can't get within the eye to eye range with the adjusting collars then it is time to change spring rates.

Not suggesting how to spend ones money; but since the major advantage is an adjustable shock, why go through the trouble and added expense? Â Why not simply install adjustable shocks and be done?
I know that coil over mods are used on some cars for tire clearance, but if that is not the case..why do it?

I've been running the QA-1 double adjustable coil overs for years. I love them. Not just for the adjustable shock portion but for the ride height adjustment as well. When I load the car up with an extra ton of crap for a long trip, I can adjust the ride height back to what I want it to be.
As for the complete "bolt in" brackets - That's awesome! I also like how they put the bottom mount into double sheer... That's solid.

It allows you to pinpoint the spring rate too. Otherwise, you can try hunting through the Moog catalog to find a spring of the right rate and height.

Re: QA1 BOLT-IN Coil-Overs for 73-77!!
brackets ended up needing a little grinding to fit in the upper mount area but they are in and car is sitting awesome. I wanted adjustable springs to be able to change ride height if i change to a taller or shorter slick. Also my old springs had been heated to try to get the right stance and they flat out sucked. Fitted the new fiberglass hood last night now off to get the cowl molded to it and painted.
