73's had a black knob with seems on each side, kinda looks like it's leather wrapped and with the "Lift" for reverse. Here is mine, only turned a bit.....

It probably wasn't born with a white knob 454Malibu, but I think it looks cool with a white one. Any idea if the shifters on the 4spd cars mount to the rear tail shaft or a little to the rear of the trans. My shifter bolts to the trans at the tale shaft. Mine just looks like it's a little more forward than the 4spd cars is all.
