Do you park "Swivels out"?
Just a fun question for swivel bucket owners. When you drive your car, and park it and leave it, do you leave your swivel seat "out" or fully rotated 90° and shut your door? Or do you "reset" your swivel seat back to driving position and then leave your car?
I make it a habit to leave the swivel "out" so that bystanders can marvel at the swivel function! but i've found that the door can only be shut either fully swiveled 90°, or reset straight. in-between angles and the door bounces off the seat. Annoying.
So, what do you swivel owners do?

Ha...I wasn't even sure you could shut the door with them in the "out" position. I leave mine in driving position.

Re: Do you park "Swivels out"?
Guy I work with brought his '74 H/O Cutlass today with 45k original miles. He parked his seats in the drive position and thought the swivels were the coolest thing (they are just uncomfortable). I let him down easy telling him my car has them as well but only for a month longer. The new seats are still in the box...

Re: Do you park "Swivels out"?
I'm thinking of a way to make it such that the swivel releases upon opening the door, and then it has a torsional spring-back feature to swing it back to driving position but with a "soft close" like those IKEA drawers so it doesn't slam back to the driving position.
p.s. the swivels are the favorite feature on my Chevelle for my wife (who is not a car person). she said they should still offer them on cars today, especially for pregnant women.

Swivels out for me. But I've never found them comfortable for big guys. That's why I'm putting my original bench back in and swivels with belts into storage.

I leave mine in drive pos. I Forget they swivel cause i dont drive mine as much as i would like. But i would love to have swivels in my dayli driver. I tilted mine a little back when i installed them, i hink they are a little more comfortable that Way. I like mine and Think i sit Real good in them.

Love mine , but rarely swivel. Really only when somebody wants to see how it works, which is nearly any time I park it in public.

Love that you're putting it back to original. That car is no-nonsense: no a/c, no power steering, bench seat, 4 speed. love it!

Thanks man. It will be like original except wheels, hood and a bunch more get up and go in the original block.

Re: Do you park "Swivels out"?
it bugs me that they didn't do a special SS hood for 1973. Even though we know by 1973 the SS it was more "show than go" it still would have differentiated it a little more.

Re: Do you park "Swivels out"?
It was a joke, Oldsmobile doesn't exist anymore. 442's and h/O's had special hoods.

Re: Do you park "Swivels out"?
Ha! Sorry John, I thought you were talking about the 442 only, but now it makes sense when I reread it knowing it was about Oldsmobile.
