You likely already know this tip, nevertheless…
When changing out the engine mounts, I've found that using a 6-point swivel socket combination wrench is the ideal tool for grabbing onto the bolt on the inside of the frame.

If the bolt's a bit stubborn or temperamental, i.e. wanting to slip or dislodge, I use just enough masking tape to secure it to the end of the wrench to keep it steady so as to guide it through the hole and keep it in place for the nut to grab a few threads. I then pull the wrench off taking the tape with it.
Hope this helps.

Re: Rusty's progress Crossmember and trans done
You may be able to get a flex-head ratchet up in there… and that ratchet would be useful for other jobs.
I learned years ago that it's not worth getting aggravated and raising my blood pressure over doing a job with tools that aren't ideal or suitable; I cannot put a dollar value vis-a-vis my long-term health. So getting a relatively inexpensive tool from Harbor Freight, Amazon or eBay, that I may only use once is worth it to me to not damage a part or, in this case, lose a bolt as it tumbles down into an enclosed part of the frame.
Of course, you could always drop the lower control arm then have unobstructed access to the bolts.

Re: Rusty's progress Crossmember and trans done
On my recent LS swap....because I wanted to use new motor mounts.
I used an old style distributor bolt lock down tool to access the bolts on the back side through the cross-member at the A-arm opening.
I had to be part contortionists with my wrist as well to feel the back side of the bolt....that I could not see.
I too thought I would have to pull - away the lower a-arm....but did not have to do so.

Re: Rusty's progress Crossmember and trans done
I'm going to see what I can fit. I have a set of cast aluminum new truck valve covers. I may try a set of those "cheater" stock chrome covers to clear the roller rockers. I also have a set of Chrome Moroso tall covers but I think those will be too tall.

Re: Rusty's progress Crossmember and trans done
Yea if these were not angled like they are Theres no way they would fit with or without heat box I may go with a more stock set till I get a heat only box ...

Well NO more drag wheels I swapped them away Swapped away for a set of 15x8 15x7 Rally wheels, and a second set of 17" Hot wheel brand wheels and For the Daughter he tossed in a set of seats for her Chevelle Â
I went back with them while waiting for the Turbines to get redone. Daughter likes the Black ones and wants them till she get tires for her turbines

I actually was referring to the rim screws on the bead of the tires. So when you stomp the pedal on that beastly 454 the tires won't spin on the wheels lol. Or am I seeing that pic wrong???
