My wife and I picked up this pickup over the weekend. Its got a few wrinkles to figure out but its pretty solid. Looking forward to the spring to start updating and driving it.

I have gotten partial to the 1978's - I have a C20 Silverado Camper Special Deluxe and a K2500 Sierra Grande. My wife has commandeered the C20 once I got my Laguna!

Lol, nice! Unfortunately my wife gets the final decision on what can be upgraded or changed since its her truck and she likes the wheels. The wheels are growing on me but I'd still like to change them to something a little bigger and more low profile like what I have on the Malibu.

Thanks! We've been looking for one that was a turn key for a while.

Good to know! I might have a few questions for you as I work through the truck. My wife fell in love with the previous generation but those were a little pricey. Its an older restoration but its pretty solid and I believe there are only 15k miles since it was restored.

Hawk,

I have owned 5 square body K5 Blazers/Jimmys, 3 square body Suburbans and 6 square body pickups. Currently have a 1979 C3500 Dually Sierra Classic in addition to the 2 1978's - I am trading the 1979 for body work on my 1978's and my Laguna. Feel free to ask me anything on these trucks, I pretty know what will fit what years and so on! Yours looks like a really good example, my C20 is a nice looking "Survivor" that will eventually need a restoration, my K2500 I started working on and have it mostly torn apart - then life got in the way and stalled the project. I am going to try to sell that one in the spring, originally form Arizona so it is a solid truck, but was "whipped" when I bought it!

Thanks Iggy! I will probably have a few questions once I get it out of storage. My first task is to hook up the cruise control diaphragm to the carb. The guy before me installed an edelbrock carb but the connection on the carb is offset from the diaphragm connection. I read there was an edlebrock bracket to make it work.

The wrinkles never looked so good! Congradulations! Square bodies are great. No wonder Chevrolet ran this body from 1973-1987. Great simple design. The new trucks are over styled, too tall, too big, too expensive. If there are no scratches in the b Mitched, its not a truck. Enjoy!

I can probably help, too.

I built about 900,000 of those starting in 1979, and was an engineer for GM Full Size Truck for 40 years (across six generations of vehicles).

LOL.  If you need to put the front fenders on, multiple times, in a hurry - I'm your man.
