Nice! That's a rare find for sure. There was someone on one of the FB groups I follow that was looking for one of these a while back. If you post it there, you would sell it in a heartbeat.

Do cars without a clock have the harness to connect the clock? If so, I'd be interested.

The vast majority of Chevelles/Malibus with the square instrument cluster gauges I came across at the JY's did not have clocks in them...nor, did they have the pigtail for the clocks as I recall.

I claim ignorance on whether this works in a clock-less car.
However, one of my wise co-workers said that GM would not make separate wiring harnesses, rather they would make and install the same harness and just not install the clock. Seemed reasonable to me.

Ok thanks. I can't remember if my car has the pig tail or not either, which is why I asked.
Regardless I am still interested. I can easily add a 12 volt source if I need too. I will send you a PM.

And yet cars that came with a tach and gauges had a completely different harness than those with idiot lights. Go figure

I have to take my dash out to switch to Rusty give me a day or so and Will look again but when I got my Clock IIRC it just plugs into the circuit board Harness kinda like the lightbulbs do

Thanks that would be helpful.

What is the difference? I bought this clock, and it looks like it should work on a '76?

I think they are a different size, I am not a 76 expert but my 75 is more circular not so square. Dave

It's the same clock for '73-'77. Pt# 994273 was simply superceded by pt# 994768 for the 1975 model year. GM often did this for no apparent reason. Maybe the numerical font is different? Who knows.....

Probably the font. I noticed that in the '73-'74 v.s. '75-'77 Monte Carlos.

Yes they do have the pigtail, it's an orange and brown wire that may be tucked into the area near the speaker.

Re: Electric clock part # 994273
Thanks all for the info. FWIW, the clock physically looks like it will fit and if it's just a difference in font, I am okay with that. If my car doesn't have a pig tail, it won't be too much work to add one with constant 12 volt.

Either way, I very much recommend you protect that clock with a really low amperage fuse, say, no more than 5 amps. The circuitry in those clocks operates like a solenoid; as the spring-loaded mechanical clock runs down, a pair of contacts come together then touch completing the circuit and momentarily energizing the solenoid to re-wind the clock. Sometimes those contacts fuse or spot-weld together. When that happens, the inside of your clock completely fries.76 Malibu wrote:If my car doesn't have a pig tail, it won't be too much work to add one with constant 12 volt.

Good idea.
Also if someone has a spare clock knob and screw, I need one for this clock.
