Re: 1973 Chevelle Phase 3 Baldwin Motion
$98,000? Didn't it sell at an auction a few years ago for around $12,000?

Re: 1973 Chevelle Phase 3 Baldwin Motion
Wow! Honestly I would have figured somewhere around $120-$130k for this one. This is probably THE most famous Chevelle built. If someone disagrees show me another that has had as mush press coverage.

Re: 1973 Chevelle Phase 3 Baldwin Motion
something strikes me as odd for about 6 months ago this Baldwin / Motion Chevelle was owned by a guy named Tom Cahill and had no intentions of selling it ...........HHHMMMMMMMMMMMM makes me wonder did some do one hell of a clone or is it the real deal the owner of this the last I knew of ===>>Tom Cahill Email: tom4221@aol.com Location: Wayne, NJ

Re: 1973 Chevelle Phase 3 Baldwin Motion
Whoa whoa whoa.......... 12 bolt rear?
I thought those didn't come under G3's. Was this a one off or did some other 73 cars get 12 bolts? I just noticed it after Limey said something about the tach & I started looking closer. Maybe the latest owner installed it?

Re: 1973 Chevelle Phase 3 Baldwin Motion
The ad disclosed that. Claims to have letters from the original owner describing how he wanted the car built, along with work orders from Motion.
So yes, it is a factory-installed 12 bolt.
Maybe Mr. Cahill is in a situation where he needs to sell or he changed his mind about owning it for a long time.

Re: 1973 Chevelle Phase 3 Baldwin Motion
no thats the way it was ordered and also why it cost so much over the standard 73 SS Chevelle sticker cost.
And you might be right red he might be in a tight spot and knows this is a ONE OF ONE CAR and knows it will bring the money under any circumstance

That car got sold at one of the big Auction houses maybe 2-3 years ago
for over a hundred grand . The dude that bought it from Tom must have put
it for sale again. I actually met Tom at a Chevelle show in CT about 10 years
ago. He told me how they found that car just by chance getting off the NJ turnpike at the wrong exit and making a few turns to get back on found it in a guys yard under a tree with a Superbird parked next to it.

#1 on my list. 1 of 1. That's a lot of ones. I'd like to see what the heck that thing is in the engine bay..kind of between the bottom of where the canister should be and the fender... There are currently 2 Hone Overdrives on e-bay for $4k & $3,500.

That thing in the fender well is the alarm siren. It had the key hole on the front fender and a barrell key to activate it.

Re: 1973 Chevelle Phase 3 Baldwin Motion
Even though I love Chevelles, I'm not impressed by big-buck cars because of all the press & hype they got over the years, even with all the one-off stuff, factory goodies etc. It's still just a Chevelle.....

yea just a Chevelle with
It has a modified 427 L88, M22 4-speed transmission, Lakewood Blow Proof Bell Housing, Hone-O-Drive overdrive (30% gear reduction), 4.88 12 bolt posi rear, Motion Mallory CDI Ignition, Holley 1150 CFM Dominator Carb, Ansen Sprint 15 x 8.5" wheels, Coni-Coil over front shocks, Superbite rear suspension, Hooker Headers and Side Pipes, Sun tach and gauges. It has 550+ horsepower and can run the 1/4 mile in 11.5 seconds. The steep rear end gearing becomes a respectable 3.42 to 1 with the overdrive engaged, making this quarter mile racer suitable for the streets.

Re: 1973 Chevelle Phase 3 Baldwin Motion
Don't forget 12 MPG.
To me this 73 represents what our gen cars would have been without all of the EPA crap that came into play back then.
As far as the alarm siren...Holy Cow...bet that's real loud judging by the size of it.

There isn't a part listed which couldn't be purchased from the aftermarket to build exactly the same car for much less money the original. Yeah, it's not the actual Motion car, but you could drive and have fun it.

I like the ones you can drive whenever and wherever you want. If I spent that kind of money on a car I would park it in my livingroom and just look at it. Be affraid to take it out. Buts thats me!

Re: 1973 Chevelle Phase 3 Baldwin Motion
Here's some pic's for Documentation for all to enjoy. These are courtesy of the current owner, Rod Kotiga and yes it's still for sale. The Last pic was courtesy of Martyn Schorr from Motion who referred me to Mr Kotiga. Thank you both for "sharing with the masses".

If I had it, I would be out there using it for what it was built for. Tearing up the streets and running it at the track every weekend.
