looks like about an 80/1. there is one like this for sale near me. its lowered with rallies and a hiding under the cowl hood is a 454. they want 6,000 for it.

If you mean the yellow/tan/brown one, that is a '77-'79.
Jim ... GREAT addition ... looks good!

Re: 1977 Impala coupe rescue
Little update, installed some new Monroe severe service shocks and some 9C1 springs I had leftover from the 94 frame.. I have a better set police springs from a 90 caprice police car I had before.
Rides so much better.
Got a carbed LT1 I'm building for it

Re: 1977 Impala coupe rescue
Well plans where to install a LT1 rotating assy in a extra vortec block I had laying around, but turns out the crank in the vortec was broken and spun the no.4 main and the rear main..so that idea was scrapped , then I had an extra LT1 I was gonna just slap my zz4 cam in and drop it in with a carb and regular HEI
Then I found this..

Wait...What color was that?
That right GM blue.....For the stock 70's smog motor look.
Gonna run a stock GM 4brl aluminum intake with the EGR blocked and a nice qjet. stock manifolds. I might squeeze out a good 275hp. and 300+ lb ft of torque I hope,... This will have just over 9.5 to 1 CR so its on the edge for regular gas.

Re: 1977 Impala coupe rescue
If those are .40 over- you can stick a bigger cam in there & get about 350 horses with Vortec heads...

Re: 1977 Impala coupe rescue
No offense but Chevy's are orange. I know I know later 70's came blue but all I see is Furd with that. My 0.02

Re: 1977 Impala coupe rescue
Well for me it kinda worked out, I thought blue 'Bu, blue motor. Eureka! I wanted to go for originality too. Also most folks repaint their engine orange, I guess I wanted it to be different at the same time. To each his own I suppose.

Re: 1977 Impala coupe rescue
Chevy engines were painted gold from the factory when they were put in 1980s Oldsmobiles! I painted my engine blue so it would look stock to people who just took a glance at it. I have those cheap chrome valve covers that just scream CHEAP CHEAP. I am thinking about painting them blue also. JB

Re: 1977 Impala coupe rescue
Don't take that wrong. And I respect the original factor. I'm still trying to figure out why Chevy switched to blue. Mine will be Chevy orange first or black. Anywho your engines both look good, didn't mean to offend anyone.

Re: 1977 Impala coupe rescue
No offense taken! I don't understand what the logic behind changing the engine color was either. Thats like Furd going from blue to gray, blah!

Re: 1977 Impala coupe rescue
Yea none taken here , I really would rather it be black, but it just doesn't jive with this engine compartment.

Re: 1977 Impala coupe rescue
I broke down and ordered a pair of stainless steel shorties from ebay for it ... exhaust is next.

Re: 1977 Impala coupe rescue
Nice wish my 77 was in that condition day of purchase..I had a vision looking at a junk pile when I dropped my coins on it..Some said it could not be done..I proved them wrong.
Previous owner lied about everything to get the sale..If he could only see the car today hmm...Â

Hate to say this, but my 507 Caddy is painted red ( it should be dark blue ) and it's FORD red !

I think the red looks good. Who cares where the color comes from if you like it?

Anything is fine but pink! I once had a 76 coupe deville with a 500..didn't know  what color the motor was under the grease and oil.

My Mom had one of these. I always liked the look of that car. Utah winters kinda killed it though.
