Paul Gray Co-founder of Slipknot found dead.... RIP

I know some of you guys are too old (too young???) to listen to Slipknot, but I'm truly saddened by the news. This has been my favorite band for over a decade & it sucks to hear of the news.

No way! That's just not fair, they're my favorite band of all time. I've been listening to them since the 6th grade! Why do all the best rock/metal band have to die off instead of retire? It's just not right.Rago wrote:http://www.desmoinesregister.com/article/20100524/NEWS/100524023/Slipknot-co-founder-Paul-Gray-found-dead-at-Urbandale-hotel

I have to say that Before I Forget is my favorite song from Slipknot. Here's a link to the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_09wFxoaeQ

I've been a fan since the day that Wait & Bleed came out. I remember the first time I heard them was when I was working at Wendy's & a buddy brought the CD in to jam out on. I was immediately hooked & bought the album the next day. It's still my favorite. I even tracked down their demo album & have a pennant that's been hung from every rear view mirror of all of my cars for the last 7 or so years. Call me a fanatic, LoL.

the best part is at the :40 mark, and the scratching...
once they find a new bass player, they should tour with the Jonas Brothers:

Wow, never heard of that band before. I guess the new age metal music has escaped me.
Unfortunately I don't think they will replace Paul. He was one of the few remaining original members. Wouldn't want to mistake them for Lynyrd Skynyrd or something..... Is there even a 1977 member left in that band or has little brother finally reformed the band with all new people?
OTOH, there's still 8 guys in the band & they are all multi-talented at playing instruments. I wouldn't be surprised to see one of the percussionists or guitarists fill in his shoes at least for some touring. Otherwise I'm left with looking forward to new Stone Sour.

i'm not a fan of Slipknot and honestly can't stand their lead singer- he's a whiny little man- but i understand why people are fans. their live show isn't just a few guys on stage playing music- it is a spectacle. they carry on a long tradition of "big" live metal acts along the lines of Alice Cooper, KISS, GWAR, or Rob Zombie.
they will replace the bass player and go on.
