Well, I am into old bicycles too, but will not have anything less than a 26 inch tire. I used to own a bicycle shop. JB

Very cool bikes, but I think for that price I'd want something that didn't use me as the powersource.

I love old bicycles, but mostly older trick & bmx bikes from the 80's. Give me a Blue Max, Supergoose, Skyway, or something along those lines & I'm a happy camper.

I'm more on the Cruiser bicycle side. More stylish, IMO. I'm not big into mountain bikes either. I've had three. I'll never have one again. Besides, a mountain bike isn't practical for my use. I like to go on a nice easy ride
Here's some pics of mine, if anyone cares:
1971 Sears Roebuck & Co. 3-speed. Yard sale find: $35. Tore it down, cleaned/polished, new tires, tubes, added a cable speedometer and make the flag bracket myself.
2002 Sun Retro Classic. Great aunt gave it to me after my 'uncle' died. Again, tore it down, polished, new tires n tube. Recently added mirrors.
1989 Schwinn World 10-speed. In the process of being re done. The rear wheel is in the shop. New tires n tubes and a quick polish.
1989 Schwinn Caliente 10-speed. New tires and tube are in the near future.
The two Schwinn my parents bought brand new in March 1990. Even still have the original bills of sales and owner's manual for each.

off the top of my head, I have a spot light similar like the one on the red sears 3 speed, i think its a schwinn one. Also i have a schwinn light generator, some schwinn handle bar grips, sears version or a stingray frame, and a few odd frames. I have this cool little 12 inch bike that i would love to restore.

You guys really know how to make a guy feel old omg when I saw old bikes I thought of my origianl CCM Mustang 2 automatic anyone seen or heard of one of those? Clue it is older then anything mentioned was a 2spd autometic shifting with pedals on the fly :) Will drop by my moms and see if I can get at it still with all the crap she saved think hoarders lol. Then will post some pics when I have time.

I guess I'm the only one here that watched the movies "Rad" or "BMX Bandits"? "Gleaming the Cube" was another 80's movie I grew up with, but it was about skateboards.
You can't do this with your mountain bikes:
The sad thing is at one time or another I've owned nearly all of the bikes in the opening credits. Wish I had some of them left other than just the 2 that I still have.

RAD was a great movie!! i still have it on vhs! my older brother was real big into freestyle when that movie came out, '85ish i believe? he had a lime green skyway, one buddy had a white/purple skyway, another buddy with a pink/purple skyway (yes, he has since came out of the closet), and my cousin with a red GT. we had a big smooth concrete driveway so they were always at our hoouse practicing. funny story but kinda not, my brother is now 39 and about a year ago was hospitalized for not being able to piss. after several tests and scopes they found that he had tons of scar tissue, basically from getting racked too much on bikes and skateboards in his younger days. LOL

Don't say that! I can't tell you how many times my boys have suffered the fate of getting smashed. Hurts just thinking about it.
Rad was & still is an awesome movie. I have it too (burned it onto a DVD) & I let my kids watch it. I don't think they understand it so much, but maybe one day.....

Re: If any of you are into old bicycles like I am...
Ah crap, so that's something else I have to look forward to now. I lost my sponsorship after several knee injuries, lost most of the cartilage in my left knee due to over-compensating for my right knee (was still recovering from a torn ACL at the time) every time I had a wreck at the track and at the trails.Rago wrote:maliburacinfreak wrote:funny story but kinda not, my brother is now 39 and about a year ago was hospitalized for not being able to piss. after several tests and scopes they found that he had tons of scar tissue, basically from getting racked too much on bikes and skateboards in his younger days.
