Re: 70 monte carlo is it worth it
Well if you break it down, the tach dash it probably worth close to a grand with the wiring and all. The rest of the car is probably not worth much. 10 bolt about $150, 350 engine $200.
Id offer $1500-$1800 at most. Id say $2200 is worth it if the trans was still there.

Re: 70 monte carlo is it worth it
Part of the fun and challenge of the game is in the negotiating. Unfortunately the junk yard is an old pro at this and has already spotted you as the mark. However, you can increase your odds by going over there with $1500 in cash and plopping it down on the counter. I'd be willing to bet you they'd accept your offer. If not, throw in another $300 and it's yours. Cash talks and you'll get your car. Be sure it has a good title.
In my opinion, a factory 4-speed Monte is not going to be offered very often. Grab it while you can.

I'd buy it for $1500 or so. You could plop down the cash & if he doesn't take what you want to pay for it, then act DIS-interested. It might be a factory four speed car, but without the four speed it might as well be just another Monte.

i dont know man...i dont know how common they are in your area...but in southern california you can get drivable 1st gen montes for thats kind of money if you look hard enough.
as far as i know they all came with the "ss" style dash and i believe ALL 1st gen montes came with a 12 bolt. it looks rough but it depends on how much you love the car if its worth it...and on your area...where i live, i can get one running for that money.

Re: 70 monte carlo is it worth it
Too much for that car. Get it for 800 bucks and thats it.You can buy a nice one for 5-6 grand that just needs a little work not every possible thing.

Re: 70 monte carlo is it worth it
whatever u offer him take it in $10 $20s and $50, make the stack look bigger then what it is. It usually works for my brother, he's been able to get his last 3 projects cheaper then listed or asked for.

yeah, but its a 4 speed car without the original 4 speed, so the extra money youd be paying just for that VIN is pointless.
