New Malibu spy shots
I'm not too huge on Government Motors these days, but you gotta respect this teaser shot:
Would be even better if we could get it on the Holden Commodore chassis & get an SS version. I'd even be happy with just a 5.3, but a 6.0 would be great. Hey, a man's gotta have some kind of pipe dream.

Re: New Malibu spy shots
They say it supposed to resemble a 4 door Camaro.
What a concept-cheap good looking car. Might actually sell a few.

I like it. I at least like the brake lights, anyway.

I like it!
I've loved the current Malibu since it came out in 2008.

Just the Facts:
The 2013 Chevrolet Malibu, a somewhat evolutionary redesign incorporating twin taillights on each side of the rear, was revealed on Thursday ahead of its April 19 debut at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show.
The redesigned Malibu was teased in a new 60-second GM video that described the car as having "let the hair down a little bit," along with borrowing design cues from the Chevrolet Camaro and Corvette. But there will be no V6 engine option, just four-cylinder engines.
GM has ambitious global plans for the Malibu, saying in a statement that it will be sold in nearly 100 countries and built in multiple locations, including China.

I really like the concept, the offset wheels, and the hood. Did he say Shainghi in that video.

Re: New Malibu spy shots
i like looking at it, but with that choice of engines thats the only thing i would do. not a big fan of the interior compared to the old one, also. and why is its premiere in china? i know they sell a lot of them over there, but american cars should be presented in america, and chinese in china (they should stay there too)

Seeing the engine options for now, I think I'll pass.

Re: New Malibu spy shots
For a car that looks so good, I knew they were going to screw it up with a 4 cylinder engine. Probably can't even get a manual trans either. Oh well. Maybe in a couple of years the rumors will come true & GM will build a Caprice or Impala to compete with the Charger.

Screw it. After seeing the front end, I'm done. Just start selling these & I might be happy.

Re: New Malibu spy shots
Lol, I gotta say something.
Last week y'all were bitching about the gas prices being too high.
Now you're bitching about this new Malibu having small, wimpy engines.
What do you want? A gas guzzling car, so you can bitch about gas, or a wimpy engine with good mileage, and bitch about the lack performance?
I just don't understand you people sometimes!
But, I still like to call you all my friends!

I love that white pearl. I've loved the late model Malibus ever since 2004 remodel, then even more at the 2008 remodel. I fell in love with the 2008 the second i saw it!!

Re: New Malibu spy shots
If it is a direct injected turbo 4- it should scoot along with some authority. The Camaro v-6 boasts 300 horsepower, and it is direct injected NA.
Direct injection is changing the game for power production in smaller engines. This may be the ultimate setup for a while until something better than the otto cycle is invented and produced.

I'm not a big performance guy, I'd rather have a great looking vehicle than a fast motor, tbh...

Based on GM's lack of a performance 4 cylinder for the most part, I want at least 4.3 liters from them if not more. With that said, I only need about 25 mpg to be happy & that's not hard to achieve with an aerodynamic car powered by a fuel injected V8. You know what though? I guess if it comes with the 260hp Ecotec as an option, it wouldn't be too bad to drive. I'd rather have a Regal GS after seeing that front end on the new Malibu though.
As far as wanting a more powerful vehicle & bitching about gas prices..... maybe GM should turn to Porsche for a lesson. Then again the Mustang V6 gets 30 mpg & has 305 hp. Why not them?

I saw a television ad a couple days ago for a Buick Regal Turbo.

Yeah it's the GS that I mentioned. 255hp & 295 ft/lbs with a six speed manual trans all wrapped in Buick luxury:

Re: New Malibu spy shots
Damn, that's sharp.
Be nice to customize one with Grand National badging. Even though its a sedan.

Re: New Malibu spy shots
The new Malibu dosent look bad at all in that little picture of fit spinning. No V6 is a disappointment though. Maybe it will get the turbo 4 like the Buick. Id like to see the new Impala too.
