Pair '74 Lagunas
Take a look at what just arrived at the local yard from CA! The white one is a running 454-Auto w/NICE blk swivel bucket interior, guages w/tach, floor console, AND a very rare power moonroof. Any missing trim in the photo is in the trunk. That one is for sale. The black one in the background has no title and has been relegated to being a parts car. I've already snatched the rust-free doors off it for Project Laguna. Also has a nice black swivel bucket seat interior but no tach/gauges. If anyone needs anything off it, let me know. I already grabbed the floor console. Unfortunately, both dashes had two cracks in them.

Its good the realize that old cars have more value than just scrap. i saw a 66 galaxy towed into the local yard today, they could give a whoa nelly about it .

Re: Pair '74 Lagunas
Sorry, Limey...no louvers on these cars. Don't know of any other Lagunas with them right now.
Interesting note with these two '74 Lagunas, the white one has the large qtr window partially covered with a sheet metal patch on the exterior and the triangular padded insert on the interior sail panel. The black one, on the other hand, has the small window with a solid sail panel on the interior. Whatever was available on the assembly line at the time, I guess.

Re: Pair '74 Lagunas
The one with the small qtr opera window, does it have the molding complete with the clip. I'm especially looking for the metal clip to join the moldings.
As well looking for the drivers side park light complete with the chrome wing. Mine's missing the wing on the park light.

Re: Pair '74 Lagunas
Laguna 74...the opera window molding is shot. Clips are there. Not sure if they will let me pick parts off the grill, but can certainly ask about that parking light "wing". How is that attached, anyway?
Budman...he mentioned $3500 OBO. Included in that price is the $750 it cost to have it transported back to MN.

Re: Pair '74 Lagunas
Anyone notice the '69 Nova behind the white Laguna and a blue '74 behind the black Laguna?

Re: Pair '74 Lagunas

Re: Pair '74 Lagunas
Yeah, I can take some pics next week when I'm out there. I've never seen one of these on a Chevelle, either. It's definitely factory as I've seen the same style on some other GM models.

Re: Pair '74 Lagunas
If that's the case, someone missed a heckuva deal. I was told the white 454 Laguna runs like a striped ape! Only thing needing attention on the black swivel bucket interior of that one is the fabric headliner covering the moonroof panel...and, the dash has two small cracks.
Interior on the black Laguna is in the same condition...but, that one has some minor dents and scrapes that need attention...and it has a 350-4 engine that hadn't been tested as of when I was out there last week.

I would check the VIN on the white one then for that sounds like a Malibu that was converted to Laguna front HMM maybe

O.J.: Here is a pic of the interior side of the power moonroof as taken from between the front seats. The headliner fabric is torn and mostly missing from the panel that slides back. The power switch is between the sunvisors with the manual crank between it and the moonroof.

Re: Pair '74 Lagunas
Limey...you bring up an interesting point. I'll check the VIN next time out. Still seems to be some mystery as to why and when GM decided to use these rooflines and then cover up part of the glass.

Re: Pair '74 Lagunas
from the guy I talked to over the phone that worked at GM then is because of the strike of the late 73 early 74 they had to do what ever it took to get these cars out some came with full panels and some were improvised with the half and half padded ones with full quarter glass in there like mine was ........................some of the stories horrified me how some of these cars lasted as long as they have

Re: Pair '74 Lagunas
It makes sense to me. Never forget the first time I saw this when I pulled back the vinyl top and thought "WTF is this"? Thought someone must have installed patch panels on the outside to create the opera window look. Then saw the same thing on a Lemans. Even found this on a '76 Cutlass Y76 option car...which begs the question of why in '76 if the explanation for using these was the strike in '73/'74?

Re: Pair '74 Lagunas
Maybe thats why my Elky came with an Olds rear end assembly. Re: Pair '74 Lagunas
That's a pretty big moonroof, If I lived alot closer i would be over there with some cutting tools taking half the roof off.
Thanks for the pics Rago and Mcarlo77, they are going to help out.
