There were no SS396's in 65. Not produced until 1966 :-)

200 Malibu SS hardtops and one convertible. Tagged the Z-16 package, it retailed for $1,501 ( for the package Not car ) and was built around a hot 375-bhp 396-cid V-8.

You got me but they were all technically "proto-types", albeit not just one or two made. Should have remembered those. What the H**L kind of Chevelle owner am I?
